    Default U40 Preview 1: Night Revels Feedback Thread

    This thread is for feedback on both the new Night Revels content as well as the revamped flow for the event. For full release notes on this Preview push please look here.

    Changes to the Night Revels festival that are included in this preview are as follows:

    • New public hub area that contains entrances to all of the Night Revels challenges. (Can be accessed from the gate to Delara's graveyard in House Jorasco)
    • New Night Revels Deleara's Graveyard private instance for collecting keys to open the other challenges (Can be accessed either from the gate to Delara's graveyard in House Jorasco or the exit of the new Night Revels crypt public space hub)
    • New Night Revels challenge "Gravework" (A spooky reimagining of "Framework")


    IMPORTANT TO NOTE

    • The Challenge "Eternity Unleashed" is not available in preview 1 despite the portal being visible in the Night Revels Crypt public space
    • The Challenge "Gravework" is currently not allowing entrance below level 15. This is a bug and will be fixed by Preview 2.
    • Character Copies to Lamannia are not available for Preview 1.

    Why the huge decrease in ingredient payouts? Splitting the ingredients up across the different challenges makes sense, but the total rewards are now much lower for everything except chocolate (which you get too much of anyway when farming for keys).

    Which dungeon were you running?
    What level did you run the dungeon at?
    What level(s) were you (and your party)?
    How many ingredients did you get?

    The number of each ingredient gained should not be lower than previous years, and in many cases should be higher.
    We don't only build for the builds that exist.
    We don't only build for the builds that are good right now.

    The fact that some changes are necessary is not diminished by the fact that other necessary changes have not happened yet.

    Sure, that's true. The number of each ingredient individually is the same or higher. But now three challenges no longer award all 5 ingredients! Those challenges have had their rewards hugely reduced.

    Chocolate has never been the "bottleneck" ingredient for anyone. If you're running the challenges to earn items, you are trying to get enough Cinnamon/Caramel/Apples/Almonds. Usually all four, if you're trying to make a few items.

    So in Resurrection Chamber, for example, under the old system, you would earn a number of each ingredient equal to your score, for a total of 4x your score in ingredients you care about (plus 1x your score in chocolate). Score 10? You get 10 of everything: 50 total, but 40 useful ingredients and 10 chocolate

    Now you earn 3x your score in Caramels, and also 3x your score in chocolate. Score 10? You get 60 ingredients total, but that's 30 Caramels and 30 Chocolate.

    That's a 25% decrease per run in useful ingredients, and a 200% increase in chocolate. Why? Were players somehow not getting enough chocolate while farming for keys?

    Quite simply, it will take more keys than before to earn the same items. That's an unfortunate change for an event that already puts players under extreme time pressure (since ingredients here expire).

    Default Epic Rune Arm

    Has the disruption been increased as I think it is so low that using it in epics is meaningless as it will not instantly kill ANY undead?

    You can't transfer for this preview, you have to roll up and level a new toon, or use an existing Lama toon...

    I didn't really get a good chance to test since the keys aren't available on the store and I had neither the time or the patience to get a character leveled and geared to be able to actually do the pre-area and get keys, but I do like the new instance separation. I can already tell it's going to be a lot less laggy and stupid.

    Is disruption still at 1k or not as if it still 1k then it is pointless in Epic?

    The boss in Haverdashed, Lady Wrasse, has been seriously bugged since that Night Revels dungeon was launched years ago. Lady Wrasse will often stop fighting and just stand there until destroyed. Will she finally be fixed this year?

    <Spoilers Alert> Tried to keep it spoiler lite but ...




    The BTC gear has now been changed to BTA. Excellent, thank you. Will gear that we currently have change to BTA as well?

    (ran solo, level 30 character ungeared, instances CR28-30)
    Night Revels - Challenge entrance instance:
    -I like it. I'll miss seeing the portals in the graveyard, they added something to the atmosphere, but this is a good change.
    -Eternity Unleashed not available in preview 1. You're killing me here.

    Night Revels - Delera's Graveyard instance:
    -Mobs added to the game more recently found a place here too. +1
    -Did key drop rate increase? Pulled 5 in one lap around the place. Not normal for me to see that many. If it's on purpose: Thank you!
    -Red sky was missing. WAI?
    -The final champion was a bit anticlimactic, just 2 regular minotaurs (unless I killed the real champ somewhere else in there). The shadowfiends from TOD, maybe?

    EDIT: Turns out Aurloc the Pale had spawned and was killed with the first group of mobs that needed to be killed at delera's tomb (wights). It looks better when he waits to show up until the end.

    -I like the way this deals with the residue from certain spells and the different facets of grief. It's a good change.

    Gravework:
    -Awesome!!!!!! Nice choice of quests, appropriate mobs and thematically beautiful.
    -I like the new mobs around the pumpkin patch. Too funny.
    -Bug (I think) - "Optional Kill the Supreme ..." didn't flag as completed after the main mob was dead. Gave me the chest then 2 or 3 more of his sidekicks showed up. Opened the chest before killing them. Nothing changed after they died or when challenge was completed. Could not find anything I had missed for it.
    -Red sky missing. WAI?

    Default Critique So Far

    Okay, the runearm is nice however I am unable to compare it to my favorite runearm in the game as it is not available in the test dojo.

    The text on the runearm is mismatched to the effects present, too many times it reads evil damage when it isn't.

    Still no dark purple reaper cosmetic outfits?

    So far the best cosmetic cloak I am finding in the game is the Night Revels Cloak Of Night........ well played there!

    Default New Delara's slayer/challenge

    First off, I really do like the mix of mob types in the new slayer/challenge area. Bonus points for adding the mino skeletons, I was hoping to see them included. I agree with Marupal on the end boss though, after tangling with multiple Doomspheres to advance to that point, the finale needs a little more oomph.

    Please bring back the Mabar sky, half the fun of running the graveyard was the ambience.

    One bug to report - I used Command Undead twice in the slayer/challenge area, once on a skele & the second time on a wraith. In both cases, after the effect wore off the mobs did not return to being hostile. Instead, they just went immobile until they white-dotted after a period of time, then they would re-appear in the immobile state until they white-dotted again. I couldn't advance the quest to drop the next wall of mist, so I had to recall. I did not test this with Dismiss Charm, not sure if that would prevent this from happening.

    I haven't gone into Night Revels on Lammania yet so this is strictly commentary on the loot available in the Dojo. The new Varguoille wing helm looks identical to a black Crest of Wave helm... is that WAI? The Diadem of the Spectre does not appear to be in the dojo so I couldn't see its appearance. Also the Spectre Deflector shield was not available to preview its appearance either. The new Green Reaper cosmetic armor and helm look awesome. My son is going bat-guano crazy that its in his favorite color.

    Could we please get purple/violet Reaper cosmetics next year? Pretty, pretty please? I would like it to match or closely go with the Death's Door Shield.



    As another thought... has it occurred to anyone to recolor this shield to match the already available Reaper Armor Cosmetics? It could be a whole new item set for people to salivate over.

    Default Ingredients expiring?

    I thought I read in the forums where Lynnabell said that the night revels ingredients were gonna stick around after the event was over. According to the tool tips they expire at the end of 2018, and one actually says 2017. Did I misunderstand what she was writing?

    I did not see the augments in the trader. Am I missing something or this year there will be no augments?

    Aurloch the Pale was pretty passive when I ran the key-earning instance. He ran around a little bit, but never cast a single offensive spell at me.

    Also when I recalled/Finished out, I was sent to my bind point instead of House J.

    Look closer to the dialogue box. It has 2 options with the rewards now. :-D
