Will the Invisible Cloak of Strahd get a name change and be Strahd's awesome cloak without the extra lore that explains why you can't see his cloak when you wear it?

Default Is this the mystery we have been waiting for?

    Cloaks nice,

I can't believe this has only been asked once in four pages. Is this the mystery that is suppose to be announced later in 2018 from the developers letter we received earlier in the year? I know the letter said "we the player base" have been asking this for years, I sure hope not.

I hope i'm not coming across like a hater, IM happy, but Ill really be happier if this is not the anticipated surprise.

    No…
RIFT operates cosmetics the best of them all. Everything any of your characters on a single account picks up/have goes into the appearances library. You can open Wardrobe any time and change anything on the fly. (No need to go into the special place for changing styles, like in WoW, for example.) For free. Plus, you can paint your items to get more unique style.
They sell additional slots for your cosmetics sets, additional dyes and costume therefore can make $ from it.

And LotRO's banking system is worse than DDO’s one. I can't believe some people thinks it's better. :-\

For two reasons. They would take up inventory slots, and you would no longer have the festival enchantment they provide.

    That's very cool!
But could you fix u37 armors first? When Im tumbling, I still can see my naked shoulders, something like I've got a very old moth-eaten vestment from that witch chest.

Thank you very much for bringing this feature to DDO!

While I never used cloaks in LOTRO and will not use cloaks here, I am very happy for all the people who enjoy such things. Truly! Little things like this make a game so much more vibrant and fun for players. I love coming here and seeing people happy.

Perhaps more importantly, I am thrilled to once again see features from LOTRO finding there way into DDO. Please continue the trend! If you can add Cosmetic Capes then perhaps Cosmetic Gloves and Cosmetic Boots and Cosmetic Belts will also work. Perhaps we can have a permanent Cosmetic Hair slot and a permanent Cosmetic Racial Appearance slot.

Also, the LOTRO inventory system is, like, a million times better than the DDO system. That guy a couple posts up was in the Rum or something.

Edit: Also, please consider giving us some Cosmetic Backpacks for the Cloak slot. Those are a Dungeons & Dragons staple and something I would totally use.

I've never thought I'd be so happy for all my screenshots to go... obselete!
Bought my first dungeon master's guide in 1992. My favourite part of ddo is coffee and slayers

Please bear in mind that this feature is still in development, and is subject to change!

When is this coming to the Live servers?
OMG! this ... this is a sensational news !!!! final my dream will come true! I can use the cloaks visible on my characters! I hope to be able to find something similar to my Artwork of my future final build (AA-Elf or Iconico Aasimar), here is my drawing:

Since I used the mirrow or glamering on the Hardened Armor of Good intentions, I fell in love with it, but without a cape I never found myself well in DDO, ok there is someone who likes (like me for example) and who but ! WAO wow SSG great job! final a bit of fresh air to the cosmetics system! I only hope that you guys with this are going to "renew the UI" of the inventory, so as to allow a proper functioning of sibalitation of cloaks etc ... I hope that with this you intend to insert a panel of cosmetics to preserve all the glimer cosmetics obtained in game on all the characters of an account.

    • We're currently targeting Update 40.
I think this is one of the famous secrets that we would have obtained with the last updatedi this year, but ... I wonder at this point in addition to the mantis ivisibili which other amazing surprises we would have in U40?

I'm very excited about this! I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of robes I can find that have appearances better for some classes than others (dark cloaks for rogues, green tattered cloaks for druids, etc). I have a feeling I will be using tattered robes more than others. Give the illusion that we've had them for a while XD

Only because y'all won't fix banking. That would easily be the greatest thing to happen to this game, by a wide margin. Just sayin.

Do they have a LOTRO-esque movement and physics to them?
And speaking of, I can already think of a bunch of LOTRO cloaks I'd love to see ported to DDO. (Hint, hint)

    Nope. Because...

    1) It has a Risia enchantment on it. (Dealbreaker by itself)

    2) Inventory is always tight on BTC/BTA items.

    3) Some players like to change appearances on the fly, and not have to dive into inventory/bank to do so.

This only happens w/ the "armor/robe" slot, never the hat slot - so it's gotta be (easily?) doable.

What about the cloaks who seems to have a hood in the icon?

How will this work with helmets and goggles?

None of the Cloaks in U40 come with hoods. There may be separate Helmets that match particular Cloaks someday.

This feature does not interact with helmets and goggles.
We don't only build for the builds that exist.

I think he meant that there are some cloacks like the mantle of the PDK or the green-steal / legendary green-steal have a hooded cloak in the icon, and then asked if this influenced the cloaks... in fact that might make sense because here are some example:

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Banner_Cloak
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Cloak_of_Flames_(level_11)
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Green_Steel_Weave_Cloak
    http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Knight%27s_Cloak

there are hooded cloaks that could theoretically influence on the appearance of the appearance of the character's head.

On the other hand, you would not be able to see even different and elaborate forms of cloaks as they are on LOTRO, it would not be desirable to have a scarf for the Christmas festival, or a Reaper cloack for the 2 Halloween sets already in play, this system ultimately opens the door to a "magical world of endless possibilities" for me new ways to make our characters look better, I hope you guys create unique aspects even for many named loot already present in the game (not all percarity but not me would be sorry to see more varieties and different forms.

It's simple...cloaks will not have hoods despite what a teeny-tiny icon might seem to show.

    Icons mean very little.

This is a really nice addition and a good visual update to the game. I remember when this happened to Bioware's Neverwinter Nights game and how exciting that was. Thanks!

Yes, that's what I meant. Hoods can dramatically change characters appearance. The hood could be added to the already existing helmet/goggles inventory UI.

Yes, I understood what you meant; I just got done manually analyzing and updating every cloak in the game.

Like I said above, (even in the case of icons that have them), none of DDO's visible Cloaks will have hoods attached. There may be separate Helmet-slot items in the future that resemble Hoods and match certain Cloaks.
