Running my first FvS life. Decided to go nuker since I am primarily going 1-20 and running R1 (R3 tops in a group). I wont bore anyone with the build, it is a straight up CHA Fire Dragonborn based caster with Light/Potency/Fire gear form 1-12 and Impulse/fire/potency 12+. Evo and Conj DC's as well. Enhancements are AoV, with the focus on getting the cores for the extra caster levels and the T4 for even more caster levels! Additional AP into Dragonborn for breath, DC's, and even more caster levels!

And I had NO idea how potent FvS casters have become since the update. Mind you i am only at 13 currently, but the DPS this build puts out is ridiculous. The DPS was mainly single target until I got flamestrike, but even then all that IPS practice I have had the last 6 lives has come in handy for sunbolt, so some multitarget options were available. Reapers were one shots, Champs were one shot, bosses were 2-3 shot. It was nuts. And sounnd burst was landing solidly so having only a few single target spells was not really a big deal (although it slowed me down a little bit)

Flamestrike is sort of meh, but with RL gear and the extra caster levels, it is decent.

It was not until 12 that this build really started to shine though (yea, I know, like a lot of builds). At 13, I am casting subbolt, searing light and nimbus at level 22, Flamestike and cometfall at level 19, and BB at 16. I can literally just run up to a group, CF/FS, and stuff is dead. Maybe soundburst if it is a big group for the extra 50% dmg. Any champs can be sunbolted down, with sunbolt crits hitting for 1100-1500. I am actually tempted to try firestorm at 16 (I doubt it, I still hate the spell, but maybe). BB is amazing as well, although Im not using it as much since I dont need it.

I am literally doing more damage that my Sorc or Lock lives at this level. By a noticeable margin. Lock probably did more DPS due to cones at lower levels, but definitely is not at 10-13. Even with Evards.


I realize that the caster level bonuses will stall in epics for most of those spells (although subolt and searing light are still good single target). I also realize that in the late teens the fire effects will be less useful and Ill likely have to switch to force. But in spite of those things, I believe this is the most potent I have been in all of my lives.


The only sad thing is that it highlights how BAD DD is for clerics. I mean really really terrible. Even with domains. There is literally never a reason to take a cleric caster.
