Help pls - Epic ranged build for PDK/Fighter TR

Want to combine a PDK + Fighter TR, and do it ranged (cuz my mouse-fu sucks at melee), just up to 30 and return to Go.


Common wisdom is that Great Cross Bows are better than Repeaters in Epic - just did a repeater life, have lots of nice ones, but fair 'nuff, have some GXB's too.


So, seems we start w/ Rogue + Fighter. The question is - can that mix be improved w/ a 3rd class, and if so, what, and how much?

Widest distribution could be Fighter 7, X 7, Y 6. If going Rogue (as it were), I'd think I'd want at least Rogue 6., and if going Fighter 7, might as well go (at least) 8.

But if Ftr 8, I'm then tempted to go 12 for 2 more Feats + Kensai Core 12 = +8 to all stats for 60 seconds is pretty strong stuff, but...

Ftr 12/Rog 6 leaves only 2 levels for something else - but could I get more mileage out of something like Ftr 8/Rog 6/ Arti 6, rather than push to Fighter 12?

Ftr 8/Rog 8 would get Improved Uncanny Dodge, and still enough for Arti tier 4 enhancements. (Altho' the AP will pro'ly run out before then...)

Seems all the right ingredients, now just to find the right proportions.

And then there's the question of which Tier V - Mech or Kensai? Both are solid, in diff ways, and my number crunching is weak at that level.


I'm confident I could work something out that's "pretty good", but hoping the voice(s) of experience could point me toward something "very good".

That attitude seems to come from people who either play rog 18+ builds for Expert Builder's +2 crit multiplier bonus or arty-4 splashed builds for Endless Fusillade. Since the former obviously isn't an option for ftr PL, that would suggest something like rog 6 / art 6 / ftr 8 instead. Something like tier-5 Mechanic for Sniper + 30% Ranged Alacrity; tier-4 BE for EF; 11 APs into Kensei for Strike w/No Thought; 6-8 APs Harper for KtA; rest season to taste if any racial APs.

Or just stick with repeaters and not care about what the forum hivemind tells you is the best build. If you can make it to level cap regardless, does it really matter if you shave a few percent off completion times?

Do the various Doubleshot bonuses stack (Kensai Core 3 Strike w/ No Thought (+3%(+)), Mechanic Tr 5 Rapid Fire (+10%), Battle Engineer Tr 4 Agility Engine (+10%)) for what would be +26% total?

I'm guessing "no", but not going to just assume and risk missing such boosts.

Or just stick with repeaters and not care about what the forum hivemind tells you is the best build. If you can make it to level cap regardless, does it really matter if you shave a few percent off completion times?

If it's only a few % diff in total DPS, no, doesn't matter to me a bit.

AFAIK they do but I don't have any toon I can use to test that so let me know how it goes.

If it's only a few % diff in total DPS, no, doesn't matter to me a bit.
