Default Legendary Items + The revive of old items and raids

    Hi,
The good old epic items are pretty much useless now.
Leveling from 20->23 is very easy, and the items are getting better and better with each expansion.

I was thinking: make a legendary version of the items - which is another upgrade after you upgrade your epic items.
Aka: Sword Of Shadow -> Epic Sword Of Shadow -> Legendary Sword Of Shadow.

Now, for the way you upgrade your Epic into Legendary, I was thinking of the following ways:
    1) Make a change for a legendary shard (fragments in non raids?) drop from an epic elite run (ee/reaper only, no normal nor hard!), after x amount you can upgrade your item.
    - It can be a legendary shard for an item, a universal shard per set/pack or a universal epic shard which can be used on whatever epic you want to upgrade.
[2) Another option is to make a legendary raid (or end quest, in case of red fens) which drop the ings required for upgrading the epic into legendary.
    - IMHO, I like #1 more because it doesn't require that much to develop, and the ee quests are still fun to run. And the Legendary content is just stupid.]

After collecting X amount you can upgrade your item in the epic ritual (or w/e way ssg choose implement this).
[Need to come with stats and abilities which of each legendary item which reflects the epic version (can be done in waves and not all content at once)].

I'll be very excited if this will go live.

    Thoughts?

It'd be nice, though add even more grind & presumably lock that weapon into the new higher-level version.

A more elegant approach could be to add a new unique augment or filigree which has properties that scale with the number of epic levels possessed by the wielder (extra enhancement bonus, +W & so on) so you could make that special item grow in power with you. It could be done by detecting levels specifically like the ruby eye augments, or maybe the number of epic power feats as there's already items which do this with the number of wilderness lore feats, so either could work. It'd have the advantage of leaving the base item's minimum level intact too, so it'd be usable sooner after a reincarnation.

Then, another special effect could be added to that special augment/filigree which varies depending on what scion feat the character possesses (similar to above, Chimeras items already exist which detect dragonmark feats so it should be possible) - eg. someone with scion of earth could also have an earthgrab proc, scion of celestia could add a radiant burst, and so on. As above, since the effect is linked to the presence of a particular feat which you don't even get until level 30, there'd be no change to the item's minimum level, you'd just get the new effects once your character hit the right level & re-equipped the weapon.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

sorry but no just plain and simple no. it was a great day when DDO finally got away from the shard, seal, scroll system. if you expect the new wave of power creep items to be upgraded forms of old s/s/s gear then im sure even more of the limited population DDO has will just stop playing. the only way this would even be acceptable is to turn shards into a universal per area drop(so a sands shard will work for all sands items), and allow seals to be exchanged at a rate of anywhere from 3-7 to 1 for the seal you want. I ran VoN 6 as often as I could and it took me 8 yrs to finally get a epic SoS, and guess what that was only because I got a SoS from some anniversary gift box. it took another year before I actually pulled my first SoS. or better yet they could just gut the whole shard, seal, scroll system and make the epic raid/quests drop the epic item or more tokens to trade for the specific epic item you want. also suggesting that the new item to upgrade these epic items to legendary only drop from EE or higher content shows you are an elitist that just wants to show off your uber item to all the players that either don't have the base item, cant upgrade the base item because of horrible RNG trying to collect shards, seals, and scroll, or the player just cant run EE content even with a full guild party.

I never understood why people hate the s/s/s system so much.
I honestly never had problems with it, and I actually like the system.

I think nowadays items drop way too frequently. People run the quest once or twice, get their items and never run the quest again. It basically kills some of the content. You barely see people run varient of stuff, most people do the same quests (dailies).

Yes, you need help with the s/s/s system, and I think thats what a guild is for.
But even when I pug (which is most of the time), if I need anything I ask my group for it, and they mostly help and pass me what I need.

Talking which, the only one time I saw the boots from von6 dropped (3 weeks ago), the guy just left it in the chest.
Yeah it did bug me a little, but what can I do, I was after this item for 8 years.
But I still like the system.
