Ever see a name you really want to use but can't because it is taken by someone who never even logs on?

Imagine this.........

After 6 months of inactivity the name goes up on a marketplace while it is still active online....

If the person who owns a character who's name is wanted logs on, they will be sent a link to the listing thus allowing them to accept or decline the sale offer thus putting in that character's inventory a name change certificate while replacing his name with a random number code if said offer is accepted.

SSG takes a portion of the proceeds, while you the seller have the option of either taking the proceeds in the form of DDO points or a little less in the form of money sent to a paypal account you may have.

The buyer receives a custom name change certificate that represents the name purchased, while this name change certificate exists no one can make a character with the name it represents unless by using said certificate to accomplish such.

Person can also take their name off of the marketplace if they choose to.

Naming Marketplace would be organized by server then by names, bids on names can be made by anyone with a paypal account and enough funds transferred to the marketplace.

Potentially with this system, someone could name a bunch of characters on each server and farm for attracting those who may want such a name for themselves..... this however is where I'd most see a problem with this idea coming from.

Recently I developped the ambition to write the NPCs' stories. I want to use the names of NPCs for my characters, like that limping WF in House Phiarlan and give him the glory he deserves before he got an arrow to his knee.

I loved to have a favor reward for this, like max. House xyz favor and you can pick one name of those people running around for one of your characters.

But no to the OP's idea. My names are not a thing to be sold.

Eh, I am honestly just wanting a way to purchase someone's name that they can be confident it is a secure transaction. They took a name and are using said character as a mule....... I've offered before to buy the name off of them, but they declined seemingly because they did not trust the means of exchange.

In other words, let's say you had said character....... now let's say that I found your name among the "Have not logged onto character in over six months list", now if I was interested I could make the request to buy that character name from you in which you'd receive a notification for in your mailbox when you log in as well as one in your actual email. You use the link, accept or decline the offer and if desired simply select an option that says "Keep this character's name off the marketplace for [Enter server name here]" and through that never receive such an offer again unless you go back in and change it again.
