    Default Which gearset for melee artificer?

    Looking to do a pure melee artificer that would use Whelm at level 30 cap. Not too worried about feats, more concerned about gear layout as it directly effects what feats are needed and the twists. Going hybrid trying to hit spell DC's does impact damage but also gives the build tools and options it otherwise would not like AOE knockdown and single target long range CC with prismatic ray. Listing brief feats and enhancement then gearsets.

    Which gearset would you choose and why?

    Base enhancements: 41 Battle Engineer / 22 Renegade / 8 Harper / 9 leftover. Could go up to 31 in renegade or as a sunelf pick up the cores for 2 INT and the 6% hit for 7 points.

    Missing blur on some these sets, just wand lvl 10 blur wands which last 15 min. Also upgrade any helms with displacement guard that can be.

    #1 GEAR: Light armor in shadow dancer and healing with positive. No spell dc for CC and very little runearm damage potential. Would rely on tactics for CC. Ravenkind trinket is great as it gives good to weapons and as an artificer if needed can switch metals. Also pairs well with shadowdancer with improved deception. Would have evasion but some non synergy with renegade in light armor. Has blur and ghostly but lower MRR.

    #2 GEAR: Medium armor in legendary dreadnaught with repair healing. Capable spell DC's as this set gets quality and artifact bonuses to spells. Has ghostly which other sets do not. Would have to craft that odd slavelords piece. Toss up if plane of air is needed for DC's or not. Not positive repair friendly with no healing amp.

    #3 GEAR: Heavy armor in legendary dreadnaught or crusader and positive healing. New cavalry plate for the 30/dr epic which seems decent. Echo of Icon does heavy lifting here providing insight CON to free up bracer spot and covering armor which lacks fortification. Only have evocation focus so unlikely spell dc's will be worth anything. Not having dedicated set bonus for armor is a downfall like the crypt or silent sets.

    #4 GEAR: Nearly same as above but changes INT item to make room for warrior pendant for armor piercing, insight tactics and insight doublestrike. Fixed the missing haste.

Not often used executioners platemail being used to get three piece set for slavelords sorcery and providing quality deadly and profane stats. Icon again for insight CON and fortification. Odd slavelord piece needed to be crafted. Missing insightful evocation so scion of plane of air would be needed.
