    I do not begrudge anyone the option. I personally don't think it fits but I really liked Minsc so I'm not going to nay-say. I'm going for snowy owl because they're beautiful.

    Now if they were to offer a cosmetic pet basket of small woodland animals say with Squirrel, Chipmunk, and Hamster - well that would be cool too.

    Birds are nice and everything, but Saekee is right. You know what we really want is some type of hamster. You know that's what you want, too.

    Hamster...
    Giant Space Hamster...
    Miniature Giant Space Hamster...
    Any of the above will do.

    Heck, it can even swoop down like a bird so the animation doesn't change much... call it a carnivorous flying giant space hamster (ref. Forgotten Realms Wiki) if you want...

    There's probably some sort of trademark / copyright / blackmail type issue involved.

    But still... if they could find the original voice actor and have him record new lines, and even just call it "Gem of the Addled Ranger," it would be fine with me. Or get the rights to the existing voice work and use it.

    Then they could also offer the hamster cosmetic pet in the DDO store.

    And don't forget about Cespenar! I would love to have a sentient gem with his voice and an imp cosmetic pet to follow me around.

    That would suck. We'd need new devs, and after all the time we put into training them. Unless... perhaps we could find a Karrnathi necromancer to raise them. Then the devs wouldn't need to rest or eat, they could just devote all their time to the game. Hmmm.

    A tressym could make a fun alternative to a bird for the tree too - but gotta love Boo!
    I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.
