    Default build help

first, I'm F2P, so nothing requiring DDO store

this particular character is lvl 4 (Rog1/Rgr2/Fig1)

    Elf Tree:

    Elven Accuracy
    Dragonmark Focus 1/3
    Velenar Weapon Training

    Tempest Tree:

    Shield of Whirling Blades
    Item Defense 2/3
    Whirling Blades

    Kensei Tree:

    Weapon Focus: Heavy Blades

    Feats:

    Least Dragonmark Shadow
    Oversized Two Weapon Fighting
    Weapon Focus: Heavy Blades

I don't plan on any rogue enhancement trees, just Elven/Tempest/Kensei

would like 4 levels of fighter for weapon specialization

Elf variant in post #4. Level 18 Tempest core is a lot better than the Weapon Specialization feat.

some of the feats don't make sense for a pure melee build... Point Blank Shot, Improved Critical: Ranged, and Doubleshot

like wise some enhancements dont make sense for pure melee... Improved Weapon Finesse (the build is elf - scimitar) finesse doesnt work with scimitars

the elf tree doesn't use elven weapon training Valenar which gives bonuses to hit and damage with scimitars

I also noticed this; very odd choices for a melee tempest elf build, wondering what the reasons are.

I'd imagine the ranged feats are because there aren't really better options besides boosting your Manyshot. Since rangers get the TWF line for free, they've got quite a few spare feats. In my experience, there are definitely times and places where Manyshot comes in handy.

Re: Doubleshot, it's a build designed for new players. While I'd recommend running Primal Avatar for a first-life Tempest these days, thanks to the addition of MP to the cores, the assumption is that they don't want to go through Shiradi to LD, and therefore need to use a Primal ED feat. But FWIW, the post was originally from 2013 and updated a year ago, so the whole thing may need to be taken with a grain of salt

Improved Weapon Finesse is no longer necessary, thanks to the Tempest Core #3. Core #2 gives Dex to hit and treats Scimitars as light weapons, Core #3 gives Dex to damage.

    Then just swap a few things around: e.g., Least DM (1), Precision (3), Extend (6), IC:Slash (9), Quicken (12), Empower Heal (15), ??? (18), Overwhelming Crit (21), ??? (24), PTWF (26), Epic DR (27), <First Blood | Elusive Target> (28).

It's there for longbows. It's also only 1 AP, so I trust you can find something else to spend it on in DWS.
