Default Your Epic Games Account Has Been Created

Email To: [email address that's unique to DDO]

    Code:
    Account Created.

    Hi [name]!

You have successfully created an Epic Games account.

    Thank you for signing up!

"From the makers of Single Window Fighting and Talk to That Harpy, it's time forrrrr... Secure that Database! What do we have for our winners, Johnny?"

"Well, tonight, the grand prize is, uhh... having your users sleep well at night?"

"Hmm, that doesn't sound very impressive! What if they fail, and everybody's personal info gets leaked?"

"That's the beauty of it! There aren't any repercussions! It'll be silently ignored by anybody who can make a difference, and the white knights will be out in droves explaining protocols they don't understand to people who do!"

    "Sounds good to me! It's a win-win!"

    [canned audience laughter]

Is there anyone else in your household with access to that email account?

Could you have accidentally left yourself logged in anywhere?
Those are not pebbles surrounding the urn filled with Human teeth. They are megaliths!

Sounds more like a security issue on your end than on their end.

Both are possible, but one is more likely imo. Esp since we aren't seeing a rash of this (yet?).

Fortnite(Epic games) has security issues. I've had to take my card info out cause some hacker tried to buy a upgrade for the game and I had to get it refunded. Ended up receiving multiple emails about them trying to log in too.

    Where? It's a one-off.

I'd be happy to hear some speculation on that.

I could tell you which is more likely, but you wouldn't like it.

I'm not the only one, but everybody gets swept under the rug. Oh well. Fits in with the rest of the stellar customer service lately.

I don't understand what you're saying in your first post.

    1. You have a mail address that you have only given to DDO. (got that from "email address that's unique to DDO")
    2. You got a mail from an unknown source (got that because you never provided the sender of the email)
    3. You did not get a "confirm your e-mail" mail from epic games (got that because you did not mention there beeing one)

With the above knowledge, 2 are the more likely causes this mail got to you:
    1. Epic Games does not have an e-mail confirmation tactic. Once you give them an e-mail, you can enter the game without the need to confirm that this e-mail is yours. With this in mind, someone could have entered your e-mail by accident or intentionally (bot?) to create an account at Epic Games.

    2. This e-mail is not from Epic Games and is an automated e-mail that a spammer sends to a selection of random e-mails. Their goal is to find out which of those random e-mails actually exist. If you reply to this e-mail saying "I don't have an Epic Games account" or "I already have an Epic Games account", then your e-mail will become compromised. This means that the spammer will use this e-mail to send spam to other people in order to bypass the spam filter.

Either way, this has nothing to do with DDO.

How you should proceed? Send a mail to Epic Games (search their website for the valid contact mail) with a copy of this e-mail. Most companies tell their users to send them copies of e-mails of that type. I notified Blizzard of such a mail I got a while ago.

No, it's from Epic. It's a legit email.

That's what this email is, sorry. I didn't paste the whole thing, because it's mostly irrelevant, except that it's now known whether or not I had an existing account with them.

    It's obviously intentional.

How did they get this email address? If the word "random" appears anywhere in your response, I'll have to laugh. You don't even use it to log in, so either their database got compromised (as it did years ago), or Xsolla leaked it. Those are the choices.

I won't give any advice on changing your password, since you're obviously doing fine, but others might want to be more cautious.
