Thank you all for coming. What a way to spend our 10th year together...

TYRS PALADIUM LAUNCHES OUR FOLDS OF HONOR DRIVE

On the 10th Anniversary of our Memorial Day in-game gatherings, the Tyrs Paladium Guild is proud to stand with the Folds of Honor and we are committed to raise money to help the Foundation realize its mission of providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled servicemen and women.

I have stood with THOUSANDS of gamers in these ten years, who came to our gatherings to simply HONOR THEIR MOTHER, FATHER, SON & DAUGHTER. GRANDFATHER or GRANDMOTHER. FRIEND.

Right now... we are raising money to HONOR ALL THESE HEROES we gathered to remember, who gave it all.... IN THEIR NAMES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And in their names, we are paying it forward so children who've lost a parent can have their college education TAKEN CARE OF!!!

Tyrs Paladium's traditional opening ceremony poem (which we've recited for each ceremony we've done over the past 10 years):

"It is the Soldier, not the reporter,

Who has given us the Freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer,

Who serves the flag, and
Whose coffin is draped by the flag--
Who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Tyrs Paladium Guild Tributes "The Chosen Few"

The Battle of Wanat occurred on July 13, 2008, when about 200 Taliban insurgents attacked American troops near Quam, in the Waygal district in Afghanistan's far eastern province of Nuristan. The position was defended primarily by United States Army soldiers of the 2nd Platoon, Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team.

The Taliban surrounded the remote base and its observation post, attacking it from Quam and surrounding farmland. They destroyed much of the U.S. heavy munitions, broke through American lines, and entered the main base before being repelled by artillery and aircraft. The United States claimed to have killed at least 21 Taliban fighters for the loss of nine U.S. soldiers killed and 27 wounded, and four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers wounded.

The Battle of Wanat has been described as one of the bloodiest Taliban attacks of the war and one of several attacks on remote outposts. In contrast to previous roadside bombings and haphazard attacks and ambushes, this attack was well-coordinated with fighters from many insurgent groups with an effort that was disciplined and sustained which was able to precisely target key equipment such as a wire-guided missile launcher.

Gerald Flemming (of Infinitely More) wrote this beautiful music to the classic words of In Flanders Fields. Gerald is playing guitar and singing the vocal. Allison Lynn is singing duet with him. Caliko Kat is playing the keyboards... McCrae's "In Flanders Fields" remains to this day one of the most memorable war poems ever written. It is a lasting legacy of the terrible battle in the Ypres salient in the spring of 1915.

Gerald and his church group gave a shout out to Tyrs Paladium this year for our video. They stated that their group thoroughly enjoyed it.
And what I've just learned: One of their late parishioners "was the designer of the Vimy Ridge memorial. Really meaningful...?" --- Allison Lynn

Tyrs Paladium Memorial Day tribute to Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin B. Wise and Family

I was sent this picture three years ago from a personal friend of mine and 25 year member of the US Army, who's inspired many of our military guild events over the years. It was a photo of a boy sitting in the corner of his bedroom looking at a photo of his father. It instantly drew me in. Something about that photo… there was a story that was meant to be told.

I spoke to Mary Wise. She is a VERY private lady, not an internet person at all. She was affected deeply by our presentation and thanks all at Tyrs Paladium for our tribute.

The Wise family is devastated with their loss as you are about to learn. I informed her that this year I was going to replay our ceremony from 2016 in honor of her son. Why twice though? It will become evident soon.

The story is indeed unforgettable. This family is only one of six families know to have had this scenario happen to them in all recorded American history.

There are very few guilds in the world of gaming that can say they've managed to pull off an act of absolute kindness of this magnitude - and for such a cause.

Tyrs Paladium guildies from Dungeons & Dragons Online, Neverwinter, Elder Scrolls Online, and Guild Wars 2 have SUCCESSFULLY combined real life resources to help raise money to help the Folds of Honor Foundation realize its mission of providing educational scholarships to the children and spouses of our fallen and disabled servicemen and women.

We raised $697 in only 6 days!!!! YOU CRUSHED IT!!! We started our drive at the end of our Memorial Day Ceremony this year and in 6 days... raised all this money.

We've granted this money in MEMORY our OUR FAMILIES that we've come to honor & remember at our annual gatherings. These donations go forth in the name of your fathers and mothers, your grandfathers and grandmothers, Your uncles & aunts, your cousins who paid the ultimate sacrifice, or suffered debilitating injuries in battle.
