    Question Music Files

Is there a way to access music files for DDO? I'm wanting to find the in game music from the Ravenloft quest line and use it for my tabletop Curse of Strahd campaign.

Everything in DDO is in data files in the DDO installation directory.

If you know what you are doing you can find everything there. It may be a breach of terms of service though.

I'm not sure if this is allowed. Dev can delete my post in that case.
Also not sure if this works still.

    1. Get DAT UNPACKER TOOL from this site
    http://lotrounpacker.ucoz.com/load/d...r_tool/1-1-0-3

    2. Place it in the root of DDO folder (Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online)
    3. Go to the root of DDO where the program is. Hold down shift and right click anywhere. (Make sure nothing is selected)
    4. Click on "Open Command Window here"
    5. A black prompt will open with this: "E:\Program Files (x86)\Turbine\Dungeons & Dragons Online>" (with your own drive letter ofc)
    6. Next, type this: "DAT_UNPACKER.exe client_sound 1" then hit enter.
    7. After it is done do the same but instead of one 1, type 2. (You can just hit Arrow Up to get the previous command and replace 1)
    8. When that is done. Go to "data" folder inside the root of DDO.
You'll find 2 folders, the 1st one should have all the sounds in the game.

They are a LOT of sound files. Best way to find what you are looking for is to Filter them by "duration" in a sound/music player. I use Foobar2000 for this.
Most music are longer than 2 to 3min.

    Enjoy!

There used to be a "media" page on the DDO website, which had *some* of the music files, but I cannot find it off-hand and it may not have *all* of the music, especially from recent updates. You could try sending PM to Cordo and asking him if the media page still exists (and where it is), as I believe he's the web-master.

    {Side note: Speaking of Ravenloft soundtrack, I'm still extremely disappointed that "Toccatta and Fugue in D-minor" doesn't start playing when the DM says "You hear an organ begin to play..." during the quest "An Invitation to Dinner".}

Did you ever get the sounds? I'm in the exact same boat myself, I would love to use the ingame sounds for CoS campaign I plan to run

I've been trying to use this unpacker, but it comes up with a message saying that

"Unhandled Exception: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Length cannot be less than zero.
    Parameter name: length
    at System.String.Substring(Int32 startIndex, Int32 length)
    at DAT_UNPACKER.Program.Main(String[] args)"

and I'm not quite sure what to do from here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

It'd be really nice to know whether this breaks Terms of Service or not. This sounds like it would help get sound bytes for the sentient jewels, something I am dying to have. But I don't like breaking ToS.

This is not a breach to the terms of service. you are not using it for anything commercial but using it for your campaign. You could record these things more easily by playing it on your PC and recording it as is, rather than extracting it from the data files.

Actually it would be a good service if SSG gave the soundtrack for free or provided the files to the public for convenience, because the music is good.

Heck, I wouldn't mind buying the soundtrack for a reasonable price, provided it's the whole soundtrack, not select tracks.

that would be great. i have some select favorite tracks. eveningstar is one of them. i also like the crafting hall music and a lot of the others.

There is software that can record what is playing on your desktop. It would be cool if someone recorded all the DDO music and uploaded it as a zip file so anyone could download it

However, there are also DDO songs on youtube if you search for it, and you can also download all of them with an online youtube to mp3 converter

Yes, there are, but unfortunately it's limited to the music available at the time it was uploaded, so the youtube collection is missing quite a few tracks by now.
