    Default 12fighter/7bard/1fvs idea

    Howdy, just coming back from around the time of MOTU and I found myself really disappointed with melee performance in higher level reaper content. I started this build based around a source of displacement, because 50% miss chance is really too tasty. Rather than just be another warlock clone I decided to try to run with bard! This gives some tasty benefits in swashbuckling, but my biggest interest was in warchanter frozen fury for an extra stun source. Because the DC is based on charisma modifier I decided to give a shot at a completely charisma based build. PDK seemed an obvious choice with Cha to damage, though bard does also give a way to get CHA to damage. The thing I liked about taking PDK instead is the 1/3 charisma modifier to tactics from Cormyrean knight training. Pair that with the new divine might from FVS and I found some pretty decent DC's. Bastard sword seemed like a good choice as well for glancing blows. I don't like +1'ing out the base level from iconics, so I went with fighter and ran. Needed a ****ton of feats so it worked well. I think some work can be done min/maxing the enhancements to grab the cleave freeze, but im satisfied where its at right now.

    Healing will be through consecrate/cocoon/CSW, and vampirism on the bastard sword because i've been a **** for it since day 1.

    This is built specifically to the character i will be running on so im sure it can be greatly improved with various past lives and such (which i honestly have completely lost track of, there are so many goddamn ways to reincarnate now.)
    Would love to hear any thoughts on improvements!

    you don't get the swashbuckling stance benefits from cores with a Bastardsword. Finessable weapons only for stance benefits to apply.
    However, if im not mistaken the CHA to DMG from tier3 is indeed only tied to Single Weapon Fighting so that'll still work, though, as you said, that's also available from pdk ...

    Generally speaking STR builds have more means to push main stat and thus dmg than CHA builds.

    Personally, would do the build with handaxe, divine might and STR to damage, aiming to use a http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Forgotten_Axe using the bard lvls mainly for displace, heals, and keeping CHA high enough to get of a fascinate here and there rather than going for the CHA to dmg PDK thing.

    I did a cha to dmg pdk greatsword build once and what I took from it is "it's a trap" - it wasn't too swell - there is far more efficient ways to get good tactics and dmg, especially on a build with 12 fighter lvls and the feats that brinjgs along ...

    Remember that Frozen Fury / Spinning Ice duration is based on # of bard levels; i.e., the less you splash, the longer they last. Your best option is some sort of PDK bard hybrid, mixed with a combo of rogue / FvS / fighter. I have a couple of different builds on the last few pages.

    What I found is that the actual bonuses from swashbuckling do not necessarily make a huge difference. Kensei core will be giving me a crit multiplier competence bonus already, but the t3 stance will still let me apply both SWF and shield mastery together. Going with divine might and pushing str higher than cha eliminates the 1/3 cha bonus to tactics from pdk, which I believe stacks with the divine might. I could possible use one of the light weapons from PDK to receive swashbuckling bonuses, but I also kind of like the huge aspect of bastard swords. Plus glancing blows will also give chances to proc weapon effects, which could be useful for taking down large groups. I also don't see how str is more pushable than cha, as psionic boost gives bonuses to all stats and I will be in stalwart stance preventing rage and the like (I believe, lmk if i'm wrong here). In addition divine might is an insightful bonus, so it will not stack with insightful gear. I considered a paladin version but pally/bard alignment nonsence.

    I was concerned about that as well but honestly I was after displacement when I started this so the 3 second helpless every 6 seconds isn’t so bad. In addition taking bard from 7 to 12 or so doesn’t really give much worth while, while dropped fighter below 12 loses psionic and some nice feats

    Agree with the comments about too few bards levels.

    I ran a 12 fighter/8bard freezy bard for awhile... it froze almost everything - but the duration was too short.

    I would suggest min 14 level bard for longer duration, I am running a 16 bard / 4X now and it appears to be working well.

    Just noticed you didn't take any tier-5 abilities, which is a side effect of spreading your APs around so much. You should definitely shift a few pts into Kensei so you can grab Keen Edge (+1 crit range) and One w/Blade (+20 MP).

    I actually just did this after running the build a little bit at 20! The single target freeze lasts 7 seconds with a 6 second timer, and my dc at level 20 is already 83. Constantly attacking helpless has been really good for dps, and im glad I moved things around for the t5 kensai. I tried dropping swashbuckler to instead push for t5 warchanter but the loss in dodge/doublestrike from switching to medium armor to qualify for stalwart (no offhand buckler without swashbuckler) wasn't really worth the shorter stun imo (t5 cleave freeze is half bard levels on a 25 second cooldown.) This is definitely a work in progress but I have been soloing EE without too much trouble, perma freeze has been super useful for negating damage from champions and high dps red names.
