Hi. What are some of the best bows for a level 30 and where do I get them ?
I don't plan on raiding much. If possible, are there some good bows I can get some other ways ?
Otherwise if nothing is available without raiding, which raids ?
Thanks

Epic Sapphire Sting from Temple of Elemental Evil is really good.
Currently, the best bow in the game is Epic Sapphire Sting. It offers 25% Ranged Alacrity, which is the highest source of Ranged Alacrity in the game, as well as a greatly improved critical profile (from 20/x3 to 18-20/x3).
What's even better is that it isn't a raid weapon. It drops in Temple of Elemental Evil Pt 1 and Pt 2 in Rare Encounter chests, End chests and the Pyramid chest in Pt 2. I would recommend either farming for rares in the first floor of Pt1, or running to the pyramid chest of Pt2 then recalling and resetting.
Good luck!
Legendary Hunter of the Wilds is probably the best non-crafted/non-raid bow. However, it's a short bow rather than a long bow. As a result, it won't work with certain builds (notably divine-based arcane archers).
Depends on what you want to do. For a cc build (paralyze) you cannot go wrong with a GS Salt bow for things that either cannot be paralyzed or have high saves, etc... The slow stacks with other slowness, so along with pin and legshot, it gets pretty ridiculous. Other than that, the some of the other ones mentioned.
The newest raid bow, Void, the Endless Cold, is sort of hidden gem. At first look, I said could have been a lot better considering what some of the other weapons do in terms of damage, but if you build towards cold elemental damage, the damage from cold can get up there pretty quick... like a lot of damage... for both the tick and the straight damage per hit. Two augment slots and the arrow clickie can add some interesting effects as well. I initially slammed this bow as nothing more than a clickie for arrows, but I tried building towards cold and have since changed my opinion.
Other than that, you can get some useful effects from thuderforged still as well. I know most say Epic Sapphire Sting, but it is just so common I find myself not using it because it does not do anything special as far as effects. It is a great bow and definitely does a lot of things well....for a vanilla build. That being said, in my opinion, you can get more out of other options if you build to their strengths.]
My pure ranger is a paralyze / doubleshot build and I use GS Salt and Void pretty much exclusively.
All that being said, bows in general are weak compared to other popular ranged martial damage builds such as shuriken, gxbows, and repeaters. Despite trying to drum up support on the forums and player's council, I don't think they will get any help anytime soon.

I did some weapon comparisons on a number of the best endgame bows. You can find it here.
Personally; I use the E Sapphire Sting because it has competitive damage with the other best bows in most/all situations, and it's ML 26 instead of ML 29. I TR my archer a fair amount, and that extra 3 levels of usefulness is nice.
For a newer player who hasn't done much grind; the free bow from ravenloft is quite decent for how easy it is to get.
The post doesn't include Hunter of the Wilds because it wasn't available back then. My initial reaction is that the bow sucks (due to being a shortbow); but looking a little more into the math makes me think it will put out very similar numbers to Void; except without all the bells and whistles of the raid bow. (7[1d6+2] ~= 5[1d8+3], no cold vulnerability, no cold DoT on hit etc). But on the other hand it does have elasticity; which is the next best thing to an improved critical profile; which the other new bows sorely lack. It'd be interesting to update my post to include the new bow as well.

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.
However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.
- My opinion on exploiters and cheaters blaming SSG for unfair punishment.
In my opinion there isn't a "Bow that Rules them All"
I find the "golf bag" approach is the better way to go...
1. Thunderforged - Crafting to Tier 1 does not need items from raids. Tier 2 it is possible to get items needed from AH. Tier 3 does need raiding
2. Legendary Green Steel - There are many options. Taylor this to fill the "hole" be it a lean towards DPS, CC or Defense
3. Ravenloft Morninglord - No raiding required
4. Ravenloft Nightmother - No raiding required
5. Cannieth Crafted - This can provide Niche. Source of Alchemical Wisdom for AA DCs. Source of the Crystal Material for DR Bypass (IE Quori)
6. Pinion - Raid loot (was available via a raiders box) - Does require raiding to upgrade Caught in the Web or Fall of Truth for COMMS - Also can be sentient gemmed for a level 23 weapon.
7. Random loot Bow with a unique effect you don't have readily available
The Morninglord one is the "free" one. Nightmother requires turning in those Vistani items you get in the chest in Quests/Raids/Wilderness/Saga reward area
Nope; all you have to do is complete the first quest in ravenloft. You don't even have to do it on a hard difficulty. And it's pretty much just walking to the end and getting xp. You can probably run it on casual and finish it in less then 5 minutes. Then, walk out into the ravenloft wilderness and the first NPC you see will give you a weapon and a sentient gem.
That's why I call it free.

I did the Into the Mist quest in Ravenloft when I was level 10.
Now I am level 18. I just went to the Smith NPC who is supposed to give the free bow, and when I try to access him, he just says some meaningless stuff.
No free bow. Or anything else.
Do I have to be level 29 or something ?
Thanks
