    Default Because I can't find my answers after reading too many posts...

    Going to TR and do my final Monk life before moving onto other classes. I've done TWF Monks and I want to do one with a Bow (because I have a collection and the game seems to reward Range play when you don't have armor for melee).

    So I already am set on 14/6 Monk/Ranger split.

    Here are the questions that are burning my mind...

    • I am not sure if there is any difference between Elf and Half Elf. I assume Elf is better because of 2% accuracy cores?
    • Leveling order - I know this is the easiest way to screw up any MC build (because I have done it). I've seen so many different ways. I assumed 6 Monk, 6 Ranger, Monk...but then saw many others...What is the most optimal way?
    • Dex or Wisdom? Reading 10k makes me think Wisdom, is this correct?

    Skills: Concentration (max), Spellcraft (spell power, max), UMD, Heal (spare), anything else? (in order of importance)

    I can change enhancements for PP so that isn't a concern.

    I just finished a 1->30 14/6 life on Xanxibar as an elf.

    • I find elf to be better simply because the filler in the racial tree is marginally better. Also they don't look bad. I suppose you could argue cleric dilly in helf for heal scrolls or more SA dice or +5 to saves. I don't know that there's much of a difference otherwise.
    • I did 6 ranger then 14 monk. It gets you the feats for free early and allows quick access to sniper shot in DWS.
    • I did straight DEX but made sure to gear for as much +DC enchantment as I could. I have very little trouble with paralyzers landing. 10k I think follows monk level as well as WIS. I found that DEX gave +tohit/dmg all the time, so was more useful. You will still have a lot of WIS. I run this build in Water stance for extra WIS most of the time.

    For AP, I did 16 elf, 42 AA, 12 ninja, rest in DWS. I grabbed more in AA initially to get paralyzing arrows as soon as possible, You can get Dex hit/dmg in either ninja spy OR DWS. It's cheaper in NS.
    Your skill list looks good. Search/Spot is handy. Level up search as a ranger, level up spot as a monk. But Concentration/UMD/Spellcraft, then heal, search.

    Featwise, the critical thing is to take grandmaster stances at 18. I also take SF:Enchant because I can then twist in the +3DC from magister ED. I've seen dual thrower/bow builds, but I found I usually just didn't bother switch to shruiken enough to bother.

    It's a fun build/split GL.
    Kodraith / Xanxibar / Xinibar / Lensgrinder :: Lava Divers of Khyber :: I'm a monk. I hit things; it's what I do.

    Thanks. I'll go Elf then. 6 Ranger then 14 Monk makes life simple.
