Default Crystal Cove Item Upgrades & Eldritch Rituals

I have a Tier 1 level 20 Cavalry Plate that I plan to upgrade to Tier 2 next time Crystal Cove is run.

One of my characters hit level 20, can use this item now, and I'm thinking about adding the +1AC Stone of Change eldritch ritual on it. Might adding this to it mess up the item's ability to be upgraded during Crystal Cove? I'm uncertain how touchy the Crystal Cove upgrading might be. (My gut feeling is that perhaps it would be able to be upgraded to Tier 2 with no problems, but it would delete the Stone of Change ritual.)

This is what would most likely happen. Can't say for sure though because I never put rituals on items that aren't fully upgraded. Almost every item 'upgrade' system in this game actually produces a technically 'new' item and I'm 99.99999% confident that this includes Crystal Cove. Augments/filigree additions, eldritch rituals from the stone of change, and festival icy/solar/whatever are notable exceptions in that they alter an existing item. Most item upgrades though, technically destroy your original item and replace it with an entirely new, better version in your inventory.

In other words, upgrades don't so much 'erase' your eldritch ritual because they're actually entirely destroying the item that had the eldritch ritual on it in the first place and producing a replacement item with better stats.

I suppose the ingredients for the +1AC to armor are easy enough to come by, that it wouldn't be much of a loss if I slapped that on there. Would get good use out of it for a few months.
    Thanks!

    Sounds sensible to me.
