Default Mimic Event is active once again....

So I really do like the rewards for the Mimic event. I just find the event as bad, or worse, than the grind that the anniversary event was. That being said, I am willing to give it another shot (because I like causing pain to myself when I play DDO, I guess).

From the last time the event ran, I know the best/fastest place to grind chests (which is probably why I hate the event so much). I need to decide which farmer I will build (Artificer or Rogue) which I can look up on Class forums. I guess the real reason I am posting is I need more information.

I can get the chests, but the penalty for finding a mimic after you find the first one is what I found prohibitive.
    • Can you just alternate between two toons for optimal mimics?
    • Or, Is there an internal cooldown (i.e. Like modern Vampirism or Blood Strength)?
    • Does level of the adventure actually matter? I saw video's of people getting a lot more mimic's solo than me even though they opened less chests. They were running much higher level adventures. This is why I ask.

After only getting 5 mics over 22 chests, I just stopped caring last time.

Iirc last time it was an increasing chance after every time you looted a chest, which decreased when you got a mimic opening yourself

So iirc the best way was gathering with friend and: same player opens chests til he pops a mimic, then goes player 2, again til pops a chest, then player 3... And keep rotating, we only bothered doing it one day and the payout was something to notice
psykopeta is finally baconpletionist because there isn't anything to delay it more - thelanis, where the gimps claim to be pros and noobs claim to be pros, no newbies allowed(unless they claim to be pros), we have enough drama w/o them. PS: I post only in the latest thread shown in main page, in the weird case u want something from me, feel free to send pm

maybe Cordovan will post a coupon for free mimic bait....

and the rotating player opening method is the way I heard works best.

Guess I'll post a "come and go" as you please with stipulation in the LFM panel. Hopefully I will get closer to 80+ I need.

Don't forget it doesn't have to be a loot chest to spawn a mimic - any key chest or 'fake' chest (as in no real loot) can also spawn a mimic, and theres a number of quests that have quite a few of these chests.

Personally for soloing chests I like the level 19 quest raiding the giants vault. 5 chests every time, and if you know it well and are decent at jumping you can finish it in 5 mins. Not too bad exp for the time spent either.

If you've already done Ghola Fan and can teleport to it then it has a total of 13-14 chests I think though timewise maybe not the best option.

level 8 quest Tomb of the Shadow knight also has quite a few chests, 10 I believe, as well as good exp especially if youre a rogue and can do all the traps.

    Irestone Inlet of course.

Unfortunately with them not spawning after looting a chest 5 times you need to switch quests a lot.

Mimic Hunt is by far my favorite event. I did not really even have to try last time, and I got enough tokens to buy a belt and a pet. Just run quests as you normally would and use the rotating party member thing that others have suggested and you should rack up tokens pretty quickly. Doing it solo will be more of a pain, but that's what the mimic bait is for I guess. Plus the rewards are better IMO than most other events. I plan to get more of the belts for other levels than the one I currently have for level 24.

Currently the best place/level range to do mimic's is level 7. Unfortunately, the developers don't want this event to be farmed so depending on how happy/depressed I get Friday/Saturday from running it, I'll share. I figure level 7 is a big enough hint.

What are your views on the best rewards? I can't decide whether the belt or cloak is better and I'll probably never get both. I'd probably go for heroic versions, lvl 8 or 12 for new characters.

Belt is my favorite, all the hit points stack with vitality since the belt has no vitality, but then I tend to focus a lot on HP's.

I like the necklace, Lvl 12 or 16 for a Haggle toon, or a swap for your main. (Note - the Level 20 is the same as the 16!)

The cloak is nifty, but I'm not sure there aren't some better ones out there. ymmv.
