Default Notice: Funeral services for Captain's Crew 2018-03-09

It is with great regret and sadness that I must announce the passing of the guild Captain's Crew. Due to an unforeseen undocumented feature virus, many Captain's Crew members were mysteriously overcome with characteritous deletiousness.

Ceremony will take place at the Temple of the Sovereign Host in House D at 8:00 PM EST, followed by a pub crawl to all taverns for drunken naked dancing. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have people to cancel their VIP subscription.

I hate to see people leave the game. But it is a classic case of you earn what you got. I will call it: Killed in line of Duty.
    My sincerest sympathies.

Yes it was mentioned and I'm not going to spend time looking for it.

While 'Undocumented Feature Virus' was rarely fatal in the past, I'm afraid when it is compounded with 'SSG Vindictus Syndrome' it appears not only fatal to the host, but possibly to the community as a whole. Our thoughts are with you and all the people affected by this, including those of us left to pick up the pieces at end game.

    Puh-lease...

Translation - While cheating and exploiting is clearly wrong on a moral level, we will shift blame to SSG because they never punished us THIS bad in the past. Despite the fact that cheating and exploiting has ruined the economy of the game 10-fold over the years, we will now claim that SSG has launched a fatal blow to the community by catching and punishing the cheaters and exploiters.

It's like blaming the cop and the courts when you lose your job because you lost your license for driving while intoxicated.

Actually, in this scenario, it's more like the cop pulling you over for speeding, putting you in jail for a week, and destroying the car you almost had paid off. Then, when you get out of jail telling you that you have the option of walking 50 miles home while barefoot or buying a brand new car from them with a brand new loan.

Sure, if police actually did that sort of thing, we probably wouldn't have anyone breaking the speed limit, but in light of how many years speed have been limits lightly enforced, imagine the disaster it would be if they suddenly started such scorched earth enforcement of it without any sort of warning of the change.

It's probably closer to you joining a car racing club, the club providing you with a car, and then you putting in illegal modifications that you knew, without a shadow of a doubt, were illegal. When the club kicks you out and keep the car, you complain that other people cheat too, plus you paid for some of the stuff on that car, so it's unfair to you that you lost it.
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)

Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.

    Nope. Not closer.

Doesn't address the previous history of very different disciplinary actions taken for the same violation.

Doesn't address the issue of the disciplinary action being ridiculously over the top relative to the offense committed, etc.

So the fact that you only got speeding tickets or overnight in jail with your car impounded the other 10 times you broke the law, NOW you realize that you shouldn't have been a habitual repeat offender.

    Got it.

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.

However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.

“Some people live their lives being perpetual victims and finger pointers. To anyone who points a finger at someone else and lays all the blame at their feet instead of taking responsibility for their own behavior, I would say, "I see that finger and you know where you can put it?”

Duncan MacGregor: Father, will the MacGregors ever be kings again?
Rob Roy MacGregor: All men with honor are kings. But not all kings have honor.
    Duncan MacGregor: What is honor?
Rob Roy MacGregor: Honor is what no man can give ya. And none can take away. Honor is a man's gift to himself.
Duncan MacGregor: Do women have it?
Rob Roy MacGregor: Women have the heart of honor. And we cherish and protect it in them. You must never mistreat a woman, or a lame man. Or stand by a see another do so.
Duncan MacGregor: How do you know if you have it?
Rob Roy MacGregor: Never worry on the getting of it. It grows in you, and speaks to you. All you need do is listen.

Hopefully you got an understanding of these things called "precedents" and "setting expectations", too. If you did, you'll be one or two up on SSG.
