Hair Styles

I have been considering purchasing a new hairstyle for my character and was wondering if there was a way to view it, before purchasing it. I know this can be done fore outfits, however not sure how to do so with hairstyles.

Any advice would be great.

I don't believe there is any method to check cosmetic hairstyles before buying.
It would be a nice QoL fix if all Cosmetics, Hair Dyes and Pets could be previewed before buying to avoid disappointment, just as outfits can be previewed.
Hopefully one of the Devs can check the code and see whether this is something that would be easy to implement (worth doing at some point soon) or awkward (leave until some later point in time when there is a resource available to look into it).

Unfortunately there is no way to preview hair styles or colors. What I do is whenever Lamannia rolls around (should be up next week maybe) I use the free DDO points on that server to try out new colors and styles to see which one I want most for the live servers. After all, testing is what Lamannia is for.

They actually look pretty close to the icon. That being said, color and style does not persist through any reincarnation where you pick a new look. This is the reason I do not buy more hair cosmetics.

Yep. I went cold turkey on the hair styles and colors years ago when I started TR'ing. I never buy them under any circumstance any more.

I've often wondered why they don't sell packs of new hair styles/colors/etc...

I can't imagine they sell so many hair dyes that selling a handful of one time hair dye packs wouldn't make them significantly more money. Like I would have no issue paying 900 DDOP's to unlock non-standard hair colors for all races then another 900 for unique hair color dyes and another 900 for mixed-color dyes.

My guess is they don't actually have an art person anymore, or if they do it's someone they have to share with like 3 other game dev studios so they have to schedule time and it's all chewed up making new art assets for dungeons/raids. Otherwise I'd have that person popping out cosmetics to sell non-stop. Hireling cosmetics, spell effect cosmetics, armor/weapon cosmetics, guild airship cosmetics, etc...

It's one of the biggest "I want to give this company money but don't want to buy XP pots, what should I buy?" no-brainers.

I've never thought of them selling hair dyes/hair styles not so much as cosmetics but as permanent access to in character creation or LR process. Depending on what they made available I would be willing purchase quite a bit. Still I think more people would be willing to purchase hairstyle and hair dye cosmetics if they made it possible to purchase permanent versions that you could equip on the cosmetic screen and carry through lives.

But then we get to the issues of inventory space and how much we need a cosmetic closet tab just like the cosmetic pet tab - available to all characters on that server.

I'd love to have 2+ mixed color hairs! Black and red would compliment my outfit perfectly.
They really shoud do more customization cosmetics.

I'm sorry, I don't play male characters so I've never bothered to get any of their images. My hubby said male halforcs though have some of the store bought cosmetic hairstyles as their regular hair options. Female halforcs do too, they have the Bangs and Bob, Short and clean, and I think Lustrous Long as regular style options.

I get jealous of seeing cool hair on NPCs it makes me want to murder them and take their hair.

I'm not sure if some of the NPC hair in Ravenloft is new or what, but I want those. Also Shadar-Kai hair for females is great. I want those for when I'm not Shadar-Kai, which almost always.

You should only murder things for gold and XP.
