High Lords will host Epic Demon Queen teaching raid on Saturday, Feb 10 at 9pm EST

Our last teaching raid was a lot of fun with Caught in the Web, where we were joined by 3 first timers! You can read about it and watch the live stream here.

The next raid in our series will be one of DDO's classic raids Epic Demon Queen! We will be hosting both the pre-raid (Against the Demon Queen) and the raid (Zawab's Revenge) on Saturday, February 10 at 9pm EST.

Due to the increasing number of raids in DDO, we will no longer be hosting every raid in the game twice during our teaching raid series. Some of the older raids will only be included once this year. This week's event will be the only time we host EDQ as a teaching raid for the 2018 series, so if you are new to or still learning this classic, which was DDO's first ever epic raid, please join us!

In weeks past, I talked about some of the reason why people avoid raiding and how our teaching raids are a fun and stress-free way to get involved. Over the years, we've also had aspiring raid leaders and guild leaders join our events to learn how to lead the raids themselves. It has been awesome to hear how folks have taken what they've learned from our teaching raids back to their guilds to teach others! If you're interested in leading raids for your guild or your friends, our teaching raids are a great place to get started.

All events in this series are for players new(er) to the raiding scene or players who are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids and to enhance the Sarlona community. There is no level cap for any of our teaching raids, but you must be at least level 20 to enter epic content.

If you are new to the DQ raid, you will need access to the Demon Sands adventure pack and you will need to be flagged by running 3 quests in Menechtarun:

• Offering of Blood
• Chains of Flame
• Chamber of Raiyum (wiz king)

We will be doing the raid on epic difficulty but you can run the flagging quests on epic or heroic to flag just the same. Each quest will give you an item that you need to take to the quest giver when you pick up the end reward, and then take to Zawabi the djinn, who is located up the hill from the mailbox in Zawabi's Refuge. The 3 items you need to give to Zawabi are the Orb of the Efreet, Blessed Blood Offering and the Phylactery of Raiyum. Once you've given all 3 items to Zawabi, talk to him again and he will grant the pre-raid quest Against the Demon Queen.

After running the 3 flagging quests, the pre-raid Against the Demon Queen must be run before the raid. ATDQ must be run every time before running the raid, but the other 3 flagging quests just need to be run once per life. We will run ATDQ together, so you will just need to have completed the other 3 quests prior to Saturday's event. Make sure you have turned in the quest items to Zawabi and he has granted you the quest Against the Demon Queen.

We had an awesome turnout for one of DDO's classic raids, with 5 signups, all of whom were first timers to the raid and 2 had never done the pre-raid! The pre-raid is a 6-person quest and in years past I would have a group of guildies do it separately while I led the teaching group, then after the pre-raid we would combine to a 12 person group for the raid. This time I wanted to do something different by not having a second group, so it was just me and the 5 signups for the entire event. The reason is because, as an older raid, DQ can be difficult to find a full group for and I wanted to demonstrate how this raid is very doable short-handed.

In the live stream below, we go over all of the quest objectives in the pre-raid (Against the Demon Queen) and then we do the raid (Zawabi's Revenge). When we got to the raid, I stood back and let the 5 of them do it all on their own so they could see for themselves, all as first timers, how this raid is very easy to do short-handed. And they rocked it!

My apologies for the poor audio, it sounded like my microphone was brushing against my hoodie, so it sounds a little scratchy at times...
