Default The den of strange Thieves - a collection of unusual Assassin builds

Come near my dear clearminded people, to shudder and marvel at this freakshow of extraordinary and maybe bizzare roguish abominations!

Ponder and shake your head at an onearmed professional killer specializing in massmurder but competing damagewise against all laws of the "Twoweaponfighting is a must for every Assassin" paradigma
    I bring to you the
    The One-armed Bandit!

Desparetly fall for this most beautiful drow hermaphrodit and its disturbing smile. It is whispered its mother was a succubus.... He specializes in charming, bewildering and slits your throat while kissing...
In this darkened red velvet cage you can have an uneasy sense of the unsettling silhouette of the
    The Courtesan!

Bringing death by dagger and throwing knife this most flexible specialist is no fun to mess around with. Take a close look on this daggerjuggling dervish, you all know him, fallen in disgrace and stripped off all its magical power and tiefling nature he is hiding here, groaning at his fate and waiting for an apropriate assignment.
Let me introduce to you the mysterious and most hideous
    Carver!

    The Furious Knifejuggler
    Glassknife
    >>> i have posted Hjarkis t5 vistani fvs glasscannon under this link too for up to date maximum raw damage. <<<

I present here some dedicated theorycrafting on unusual assassin buildpossibilities with the the aim to highlight some fun but in their boundaries competetive assassin builds

This investigation of assassin variation is possible due to the fact, that an assassin doesnt need to be a pure rogue anymore to be competetive since the invention of more items boosting Assassinate dc and growing attributes. Additionaly the variation of assassin builds was widened by the many different synergies coming from the new vistanitree.

It is the goal to add some fun alternatives each with their own gimmiks to the worn out path of staying pure.

all funny and/or productive comments are welcome here...

@edit with the upcoming Mp boost to shadowdancer, and the restriction to weapon versatility to throwing daggers the Carver build became very strong. i posted a alternative version, which trades the vistanicapstone for stacking faster sneaking deadly strikes and 2 sa for much more fun.
I also posted a better and more balanced version of the courtesan, which also is going to profit from the increase in Shadowdancer Mp.

    Default The one-armed bandit

Before he saw the light of eberron the rats were dancing strange signs in all the sewers and a prophecy told of a great assassin hero to be born, unmatched in its murderous skill. It was unusal precise and predicted the mother, time, location and even shoesize of the child.
At the predicted time the mother cried bloody tears of frustation, believing in godly mockery, when she saw her little son. He was clearly a rogue, born with a cunning grin in his little face but he only had one arm!
As everyone and their childs and childrens childs do know: An Assassin who is not using two weapons is a Ne'er-do-well!
Argumentation is simple but universal: An Assassin is about Sneakattacks, not going Twf means less Sneakattacks, ergo Ne'er-do-well....

Well little one armed bandit had not much choice, only having one arm clearly means only one weapon can be swung at once (Single Weapon Fighting). He clearly could not become the deadliest assassin ever but he could become an banditking unique in.... well strangeness. Oh wait whats about massmurder?

So he started his ambitious training as 1 year old child bodybuilding his one little arm into a deadly weapon! He has the punch of a Bud Spencer (+46Meleepower vs a pure Assassin, power attack and dex to damage multiplied by 1,5) combined with the quickness of a Terence Hill (35% attackspeed).
Then he built up his coolness incorporating the lifstyle of an experienced playboy only wearing Bathrobes with a pointy dagger underneath (Centered) which he thought was cool but everyone else found it just queer....

Following an old roguesages senseless saying: "Too blind someone always hit both eyes" he developed the skill to always hit twice (doublestrike 100% possible).
Still less attacks then Twf so still a Ne'er-do-well Assassin. He became as deadly as could be with one arm watching leon the professional a thousand times 4dex from windstance +4 dex from vistanitree and his assassinate dc was still 2 less then a pure Assassin. In overcompensating frustration he developed an unique one armed swimmingstyle ...
Then he couldnt bear it no more and went mad and missing for a few years. Berserking through hordes of kobolds in the sewers for that time to work off stress, along the way perfecting his unique one armed Crawl swimmingstyle... (Swimming maxed for no reason)
In that time he became an assassin unmatched in mutilating groups of enemies at once! (imp feint > Lay waste > greater cleave > cleave > fan of knives > Diplomacy > Meld Into Darkness > Rinse and Repeat)

    5. Stealthy (Tier 1 Shadowdancer)

    Essentials:
In Theory this build trades defense (prr and max dodge and utility like immune to slippery), 5 Sa and 2 assassinate dc vs deadly cleaveattacks. This build offers the tools to eliminate high value single targets with assassinate or treat with a group of trashmobs with Cleaveattacks + Meld into darkness while in theory still offers very good Boss dps.

Focus of this build is high base dmg to get the most out of the cleave attacks but still retain a decent Assassinate dc and make the most of Sa possible Swf.

    > +4w basedmg (1w deadly blades, 1,5w dance of flowers, +1w Combat Brute, +0,5mp imp. power attack) this synergizes greatly with Agony, an epic morninglords dagger and ofc the new raiddaggers because of their higher basedamage. Agony would do 6,5(2w4) until lvl 23 Liturgy is a good option doing 5(w10)
    > This together with 1,5 dex to damge + 8dmg from vistani +5dmg power attack and the crit profile of 15-20 x4 due to lethality and knifespec should provide exellent dmg.
    - 61 Meleepower from enhancements and feats (20 single dagger, 20 vistani capstone, 10 henshin, 6 Swf feats, 5 Nimbleness) +30 from Mtf and +30 from damage boost if attacking from Sneak means 121 Mp at lvl 19 without any items or epiclvls or Mp from epic destinies.

A typical attack routine could look like this:
Stack MtF and Sneak in > Assassinate ranged or caster > Damage boost + Uncanny Dodge > improved Feint > Lay Waste > Greater Cleave > Cleave > Fan of Knives (mainly for Sa dmg)
    > Diplomacy/Meld into darkness > Improved Feint >Lay Waste (if activated by cleaveattacks) >Greater cleave > Cleave Rinse and Repeat. As improved Feint has a cooldown of 6 and cleave/gr. Cleave a cooldown of 5 u can use them together very efficiently and can do 2 bluffed Greater cleaves, 2 cleaves, 1-2 lay wastes and 1 fan of knives during the 15 sec u have 100% dodge form Meld into darkness are easily doable, theorteicaly u can do the routine 3 times in 15 sec.
Thats are 3 bluffed cleaves, 3 greater cleaves 1-2 Lay wastes and 1-2 fan of knives all doing Sa Dmg during the listed chain. This should deliver devastating areadmg, while mostly protected from meld into darkness.
If u consider the high basedmg and the high Meleepower and 16 Sa Dice the damagepotential of this routine should be obvious.

Now lets talk about boss dps:
Against a boss u use hasteboost, which can be used 3 min non stop as LD hasteboost has only 20sec cooldown. This together with the highbasedmg, 35% attackspeed and 100% doublestrike and 16Sa should provide dps near to that of a twf Assassin.

    - 100% doublestrike possible: 20 Rapidattack (morale)+12windstance(untyped)+10vistanitree(shoul d be untyped) +9 Martialpastlife(should stack) +8 Scion of Astral while centered (should stack) +5ptwf +3opportunist(untyped)+3Shadowtraining IV(profane)[if in Sd and not LD] = 70
farm and equip stuff like+17 outfit of celestial avenger (enhancement) and +10 (insightful) LegendaryLore-Fueled Packbanner and you are at 97% doublestrike!
twist hail of blows or farm a legendary mantle of fury (+23 enhancement) and 100% doublestrike is reached

Take into account that Doublestrike synergizes far better with swf then with twf because it doesnt effect offhand weapon and swf has +30% attackspeed and more dmg.

Agony would hit for 6,5(2w4)+7 all the bonusdmg( 1,5 dex, 8 vistani, 5 pa etc) with a critprofile of 15-20 x4 on 65% (35% base +30boost) Attackspeed with 100% doublestrike and 16 Sa and around 250 Mp. That should provide singnificant bossdmg overcoming other swf builds due to 100% doublestrike, higher crit profile, 16 Sa and high Mp.

    >>>Proposition: Despite building on the synergy of 100% doublestrike and Swf the onearmed bandit still has less hits and that means less Sneak attacks. But he should make that up by his much higher basedamage and his higher Mp boosting both its base dmg and Dmg from Sa.

    >>>Assumption: if this is true, then a competitive Swf Assassin is not only possible, but also brings the very welcome Areadamgeoption of high damaging cleave attacks to the Assassinarsenal. In theory the build is not or not much behind in Boss dps and only 2 behind in Assassinate Dc if in Shadowdancer vs a pure Assassin

You can go con 16 and ditch swimming and drop PSWF for a defensive feat like elusive, if u dont intend to use vorpals to boost defense a bit. This still is going to stay a glasscannon build and will most likely have a hard time in reaper. On the one Hand the one armed bandit build should be exellent to speed up heroics and EE with his massive areadamage.
    - Race can be anything granting +2 dex. The human extrafeat isnt really useful unfortunatly, as it is not possible to free an epicfeat.

"A Swf Assassin is no Ne'er-do-well you sophisticated simpleminded Roguedoctors"
The one armed Bandit grins overambitiusly selfconfident and flexes his overproportianty well trained one arm! ( while still wishing for a second one to train it for massageservices)

    Default The Courtesan

Detailed info and story to be done.....

    Revised version of the courtesan:
    Changes:
Got rid of shadowdagger for more dmg, thunderstone is just better and 2 sources of blind (traps are enough)
Less feats and enhancement points to boost perform > added deadly strikes for single target dmg
no Sap> heroic wiz int based charmspell with spell focus enchantment
    > epic int build Burst of glacial Wrath change spell focus to envocation and twist magister instead of daunting Roar

This is highly experimental and definetly a funbuild. An int based control Assassin making the most out of Assassinate, controlling his enemies to assassinate or create 1 on 1 combat. As you always want to have control of your enemies you need to make lots of choices, you need to test and develop different routines for specific situations. Therefore this is a build with a high learning curve for players, who like mindful play and precise planning.

Twist in music of the spiderqueen for vermin

This is my take on an intbased max control version of the Courtesan. Its is designed for quests with mobs suspectible to fascinate and assassination and should provide a new gameexperience for a Rogue, as it thrives for total control.
It sacrifices all the damage from vistanitree and the Assassin Capstone only compensated by Kta a bit and spends feats and twists for control by Fascinate, magical traps, thunderstone, Shadowdagger, Sap, daunting roar, higher direcharge dc and Shadow manipulation and by that receives quite an arsenal of control instruments.

Its seriously and maybe overzealously aimed to be tested at low Reaper solo. Though it is by all means a funbuild, it may accomplish some great deeds.
It takes every controlmethod i possibly could come up with, which are quite a few actualy and it most liekely overinvested on fascinate and disable device and maybe some of the control options prove to be not necessary, so ap, destinypoints, twists and even feats can be freed for more int and dmg, testing what is needed in gameplay.

    Bardlvl > Fascinate
Wizardlvl > Magical training to maintain kta, use scathing words and cocoon. Quicken spell for cocoon and scathing words.
fort debuff -7 for better assassination (-2 haunting melody, -3 scathing words, -2 daunting Roar)
Int for > attack and damage, reflex, magical traps, assassination dc, kta, dire charge dc, daunting roar dc, thunderstone and shadowdagger dc, shadow manipulation dc and endless skillpoints
Dex 15 for imp Sneak attack
Cha 15 and max from items for perform with the sideeffect of boosting umd, bluff, haggle and diplomacy.
    perfect Trapmonkey: intbuild, epic reflexes

Lets take a look at the controlinstruments:
    - 3 Options to blind: Thunderstone, glittering traps, shadowdagger all boosted by int opening up sneak attack, some protection (50%concealment) and maybe the possibility to assassinate by itself. (you could add shadow lance but i think thats just too much)
the combination of Thunderstone/glitterdust and fascinate opens up the option to directly assassinate fascinated enemies without having to bluff, making double assassinates possible and solving one of the main problems of the above dex split.
    - Fascinate ofc. which is one of the keyskills of the build. +5 to all skill from roguespecial feat, harper agent and shadowdancer, +3 from epic reputation,+6 from allure twist are much more efficient ways to boost it than by boosting cha. Most likely perform is higher then needed with cha as the second attribute and max boost possibly from items
    - Traps: playing int with improved traps and boosting disable further by +5 all skills, +4 technician +1 mechanic + all the usual items should make traps a very reliable control option and opens up some great options to initiate and backup your control over mobs. Glitterdust, Web, Deep slumber and halt undead are the commonly used ones. i will try touch of idiocy for daunting roar and the charmpart of shadowmanipulation in special cases.
    - Sap: Open up a perfect controlinstrument to guarentee assassination of one enemy or to control parts of a grp.
    - Charm: Shadow Manipulation, that is also boosted by int offers control, damage, an aggromagnet and an instakill in one. You can back it up easily with fascinate or webtrap or sap and assassinate if it fails. If used on a low save and or debuffed mob it should be very useful. It should be incredibly useful in Reaper and soloplay. Heroic int based charm
    - AoE freeze: Burst of glacial Wrath. Also boosted by int, offers debuff and helplessness to take down some mobe quickly.
    - AoE Stun: Dire Charge Int build and Kta guarantees a very high dc.
    - very high bluff, Shiv, improved feint to sneak attack and evade some dmg.
    - very high diplomacy, reduced agro from shiv and sly flourish and imp.feint for grpplay.

    Examples for Combos:
    - double assassinate> glitterdust>Meld into darkness fascinate> scathing words >double assassinate
    - double assassinate > dire charge >touch of idiocytrap>Shadow Manipulation>Diplomacy>double assassination
always having lots of instruments to fall back too if something fails dire charge/daunting roar/ prepared traps/Sap/thunderstone ...

These controlmethods open up more possibilities of combination, as i can forsee without playing.

Song uses: +3 musical studies, +2 Tavern Shanties, +3 Lasting inspiration, +3 allure: 12 Songs/rest, lasting for 1min and 12 sec
( lingering songs and lasting inspiration and Echoes of arcane)
Equip an Anthem item to regenerate 1 song/minute and i bet there are items giving extra songuses too.

    Perform breakdown
Seems as if the hardcap is 85 to be sure but as fascinate adds d20 a perform of 80 might be a fair aim to reach.
    Perform: 23 skills +18 from cha (assuming i can reach 46 cha) 22 slaveryitem +11 insightful +3 persuasion +4 gh +6 allure +1 roguespecial, +3 harper, skillfocus +3 +2 good luck +2 shipbuff = 98
edit i forgot +10 from epiclvls and therefore was able to free enhancementpoints and feats for more dmg and Burst of glacial wrath

    Default Carver

This Assassin is builds on the synergy of Assassin and Vistani enhancements both boosting dagger and throwing daggers. While a melee build primary with a decent Assassinate dc it has a decent ranged and Aoe option with meleepower boosted imp. Precise Shot Throwing daggers. Take into account that throwing daggers get dex to hit and dmg and improved critprofile from the assassintree and most vistani enhancement boost throwing daggers too. Add in executioners Shot from Sd for a potential ranged instakill and u have a very flexible Assassin, that can deal with grps of trashmobs and dangerous cleaving boss from ranged while beeing a fully capable melee Assassin.

    Features:

    - Fully capable melee Assassin with deadly strikes and decent Assassinate for single targets
    - Ranged throwing daggers with all essential feats and twists using imp. Precise Shot, Pin and Executioners Shot for Group execution
    - High Mp from Shadowdancer and vistanicapstone affecting melee and ranged
    - Quick draw for fast weapon switch
    - stacking faster Sneaking from Assassin and dws, if u ditch the vistanicap
    - possibility to take vistani tier 5 and furyshots instead of assassinate if necessary

    Default The furious knifejuggler

    -detailed information to be done

This build is a Ranged Rogue Furyshotbuild which mainly uses imp. Precise Shot > Whirling Blades > Adrenaline > Sniper Shot Throwing Knives boosted by melee Power. But It also can juggle to bow > Adrenaline > Manyshot with Archers Focus build up by Throwing knives every 2 min and has a decent Meleeoption which can use Adrenaline > Execute as a boss finisher or Adrenaline Blessed Blades with overwhelming force to dispatch and control an dangerous enemy in melee. All possibilities are boosted by dex to dmg and 16 Sa. With Quickdraw not only improving throwing dagger speed but also weaponjuggling to bow or daggers.
If u have Racial pastlife Ap you should run it warforged or Aasimar for even more Melee Power.
If u dont take whatever race you like or consider Aasimar to add a strong Healing option to this build.
You can consider Rog 11 ranger 6 Mnk 3 for 10 more Melee power but you loose opportunist, 3 Sa +1 Sa from it and also loose 5Mp for Nimbleness so in my opinion 13/6/1 is the perfect combo. Consider to change imp. crit pierce for imp.crit Ranged if u prefer juglling to bow for manyshot over melee.
Another option would be to ditch Sniper Shot and the Melee option and go straight for max Meleepower for high sustained throwing knife damage but you loose a lot in Furyshot without Sniper Shot.
Shield mastery and imp shield mastery for more mp and prr used together with Throwing knives.

Furyshot throwing daggers boosted by Melee Power should provide similiar dps as a Ranger bowbuild. Althaugh this build provides better sustained dps outside of Whirling Blades and Manyshot and provide decent melee Damage as well.

    Default The Glassknife

more detailed info and story to be done

This is the Assassinbuild with max single traget dps possible for an assassin in my opinion but it is a glasscannon and does easily break.
Damage comes from +2,5w basedamage, 100% doublestrike, 5% attackspeed, 100% offhand strike chance, 20% offhand doublestrike together with 16Sa and 20 higher Mp then a pure Assassin.
Go LD or Sd as epic destiny.
2 monk are for 10% mp from hensin, 2 feats >> grandmaster windstance 12%doublestrike and +4 dex, +4% doublestrike frome legendary feat (astral plane) for beeing centered, +1,5 w from twisting dance of flowers.
In fact it is the Twf variant of the one armed bandit build but without its cleavedamage.

    TNG,

Thanks for taking the time to post these builds. I really like all of them. Will be trying "Carver" for my final Aasimar Scourge run.

Will have to take the ranger lvl first, this may cost me a number of skill pts, but I'm sure i can still make it work.

Will try to report back and let you know how it goes.

    Hey Assasination,
thank you for your reply, glad you like the builds.
On a scourge the biggest problem is the loss of a feat, skills can be adjusted easily. For the feat i would most likely drop imp. feint or precision. you can also consider to drop imp crit thrown and get a keen weapon...
if u wan to play around with healing hand go wis 16, it also will push wilsave and make slippery more worthy.
If u want to skill scourge enhancements and are willing to ditch the vistani capstone, 23 or 25 ist the sweet spot for vistani freeing 16-18 points to play around with.
In this case consider to stack sneakspeed of assassin and dws, its really fun. on assassin consider deadly strikes
18 scourge might be nice too though. 5% doublestrike, 6 Mp, healing hands heal amp light damage with blind etc....

i expect the throwing daggers to be a solid ranged option.
Throwing daggers get dex to dmg from dagger in the back and crit profile from knife spec, add in rapid shot, executioners shot and all the dmg from vistani and it should be quite ok.
Im very interested in your experiences and opinion.

    Have Fun

Great stuff! I am thinking a lot about a variation of the glasscannon--I like the 1 monk for easy access to faster sneaking whereas (oddly) having to spend 8 AP in DWS feels costly...I am thinking 18/1 monk/1 fighter and then having two options--centered vs uncentered. The uncentered one can load up on weapon focus feats instead of forms feats and can then use the leather armor sets that I already have...faster sneaking and 10MP from henshin still work when uncentered

Hm interesting variation. With that split you will trade damage vs utility obviously.
Uncentered looses 4 dex and 12% +4% extra ds from scion of astral at lvl 30 and dance of flowers but gain more prr and 6 Mp. I would prefer centered as you will reach 100% doublestrike by doing so but if you have great leather armor sets, you want to use, it might be worth the trade.

I absolutly do love faster sneaking but the vistanicap is quite some damage to give up for it: 20 Mp 5% attackspeed and free completionist feat. At least this frees some ap for deadly strikes and MtF too as you dont need to put more then 31 ap in vistani. While deadly strikes does provide quite some dmg i still think the vistani cap is far stronger and it is certainly more reliable, as you dont have to keep poisionstrike running all the time together with rapid strikes.

The more i think of it, i would suggest you to play a fleetfood assassin instead of your split. I will post it here too, if i find some sparetime.

It is basicaly 18Rog/1Barb/x with enhancements Ta 3, ass 36, vist 41. Going this route should be just a bit better then your split most likely.
Barb nets you rougly the same sneakspeed like faster sneaking of ninja. You would win 10 Mp 5% Attackspeed +2 to all attributes and still can buy all 3 Wf feats and use Leather armor.

Because of the loss of the vistanicap in comparison to a barb splash, i cant see a monk splashed assassin skilling faster sneaking althaugh it does look great on first glance.
Except maybe on an int based splash, which cant take vistanicap anyway because of the Ap needed for harper. Traps, Kta, the higher dire charge dc and deadly strikes might justify to drop vistanicap and skill faster sneaking. Harp 12 Ta 3 henshin 1 ninja 4 ass 39 does leave 21 ap for either vistani or to be distributed among mechanic for trapuse and the other tress.
So i would either suggest to play barbsplashed or to go uncentered intbased. you might consider dropping fighter for wizard for magical training for perma kta.

Monk henshin MP boosts will now get a huge nerf in the upcoming patch or change. The cores will only give about 3 MP if I recall rightly.

I am currently running a centered heroic build of 3 monk/1 fighter/16 rogue and it is INSANELY awesome. It will not be after the patch but I grab the 3 monk levels early and can use dex with wraps (ninja) and 20 MP. Starting with rogue, you get Improved feint access too, and with 3 monk levels I can use Advanced Ninja Training with shurikens. Even without any boost to throwing (eventually will get free quickdraw from Vistani and can twist whirling wrists in epics, if I do not TR right away) this is a viable single target attack for some ranged beasties and those bosses.

I am finding it fast, strong DPS with a pair of vorpal handwraps--no need for daggers until level 12 (no way will I even touch them before then, and I have some good daggers); Level 12 take fighter for extra feat (IC Piercing) and I can have GMoF at 18 with this split. I give up level 18 core but so what; crits are overrated. I think one could do a stunning fist build with this too but not my style.

This guy is fast (+5% from monk levels) and fun. The wraps help with the glaring weakness of heroic rogues which is in those early levels.

Also important with the upcoming patch is that Shadowdancer will gain a HUGE buff in Melee power. So melee power is not as important as it was before--I think it will be 10 per core instead of 3. With a buffed up sentient drow dagger the melee power will be huge at level 21 whatever the split so capstone is not such a big deal. Better to have the faster sneaking--I can't believe I went an epic life without it lol!

Interesting build and sure fun. 5% movement speed from mnk with stacking faster sneak must be incredible Did you utilize venomed blades and sting of the ninja and poison weapons? i have never tested it but love the idea.

Yes im really exited, especially about the Mp buff to Shadowdancer. And you are right: this will reduce the importance of the vistani capstone and open up more build possibilities for a Rogue, which means more fun I pity Henshins a bit though that much Mp as lowhanging fruits was a bit op. Its still worth to grab them 1ap for 3 prr and 3Mp is still very useful for splashes

My Carver build will be very strong utilizing Mp for ranged imp. Precise Shot throwing daggers together with exutioners Shot, while beeing a fully capable assassin. And im really tempted to ditch vistani capstone to stack faster sneaking there too

At the moment im theorycrafting a mixture of the charmeur and one armed Bandit build: A int based Swashbuckling Rogue13 rog/5brd/2 fighter in Shadowdancer with imp Shield bash feat to make more of the Sa which is using coup de grace instead of assassination. high perform for Fascinate Coup and Knockdown. Dire charge and shield stun with kta for reliable stuns. Shadow manipulation, int boosted magic traps, daunting Roar and thunderstone for control. imp feint En pointe and cleave for Aoe. Shield feats and legendary shield twist for ds.
It should be quite fun Dex version would have more sa and greater cleave and trades harper and mechanic for more ds from vistani

I am wondering if there is any way to use a stealth build that can charm. You have the courtesan for fascinate but I want to charm toons as do many do to get through reaper. That would facilitate a lot of quests. I have no idea how to buff the spell. If it just worked from levels 3-12 that would be fine too...

Maybe take a look at the Godly Heroic Reaper Paladin thread. It a paladin, but built for instant kills based on class level+stat and enchantment/charms as well. It is analogous to what you want, but more slaughter everything Tilo-style.

It discusses DCs, spell pen, CC, spell failure, gear, and all that jazz.

Well the Charmeur has Shadow Manipulation but you can only charm one every 2 min so thats not enough.

2 lvls of bard will give you Charm person and suggestion SLA.
Tilos link shows it is possible to charm in heroic reaper with warlock splashed paladin, it should be possible to translate this to a Rogue following his guidelines: (Thx for your great input Tilomere)
    So lets see

Spell penetration will be down 14 caster levels when you fight the drow in the Mines at level 15 for example. 9 of these can be made up with past livesx3 of wizard and favored soul. 2 more can be obtained by tier 2 of the reaper enhancement tree. This means one can be down 4 from a normal first life pure caster. If you have these other sources of spell pen, you can cast on the lesser spell resistance mobs like hezrous, renders, and reavers (most things except drow). You won't be able to cast on drow though.
So you can go 1 warlock for charm person and command sla or 2 brd for charmperson and suggestion sla, both are object to spellpenetration, so you need wiz and fvs pastlives for spell pen and wiz past lives and maxed cha for the willsave dc. i could see a Pdk build with shorswords and maybe swashbuckling here.
warlock seems the better way here as you can get +2 dc from th core1 ofTainted scholar.
If you want to still use Assassinate going int based with 1 wiz lvl should be the way. So an int based version of your prowler build should be able to charm in heroics if you have the wiz and fvs past lives, which i dont
For epics burst of glacial wrath shoud be a great option for every int or cha build, i will implement it into the charmeur build most likely.

great, thx! Well, 1 wiz gets charm too—but the build does not need to be an assassin to be stealthy. Druid builds might offer something too due to the huge run speed boost & combat speed in wolf form—it is like receiving GSWF free. Will need to see.
I am thinking early heroics not epics.

    Options:

A T5 Henshin could take curse of the Void to charm
AA Tree gives +4 dc to enchantment dc, might porvide an option too

I think a bard in generally should be good for a charming stealthbuild. they have ms and hide and many skillpoints.
Some Spellsinger cores provide + dc on enchantment and you can get spellpenetration from tier 4 there too
Maybe a bard Rogue PdK build would be fun?

Oh and another question: Is casting charm person breaking invis and stealth?
