Our last teaching raid Riding the Storm Out had a great turn out and was a lot of fun. The evening included 5 people who were new to or still learning RSO, 3 of whom were first timers and most of whom had never attended one our our teaching raid events before! You can read about it and watch the live stream here.
The next raid in our series will be another one of DDO's newer raids, Defiler of the Just this Saturday, January 20 at 9pm EST.
There are many reasons why the majority of DDO players avoid raids. Last week I talked about how having unpleasant experiences in raids with bad leaders can be a big turn off. There are also many DDO'ers out there who avoid raids because they think their build, gear or skills aren't good enough. Our teaching raids are meant to give new and old players a basic level of competency with raids so that they will feel comfortable joining a pug raid with a good idea of how things are supposed to work. Not only do we explain as much as possible about how raids work and what is supposed to be done, but where appropriate we also show what not to do and what happens when things go wrong. If you've never run a raid, or you feel your gear, build or DDO skills aren't good enough, that doesn't mean you can't join. On the contrary, it means that these events are precisely for you! We want you to know that even if you're just playing a casual build without a bunch of past lives or fancy gear, that you can be a part of a successful raiding team and have fun learning new parts of the game
All events in this series are for players new(er) to the raiding scene or players who are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.
The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community. There is no level cap for any of our teaching raids but you need to be at least level 20 to enter epic content.
If you are new to DOJ, you will need to flag by running 3 quests in Amrath: Archons' Trial, Demon Assault and Devil's Details. You will need to have access to the Trials of the Archons adventure pack. You can run the flagging quests on heroic or epic and flag just the same, but you will need to be at least level 20 to enter the epic raid (there is not a heroic version of this raid).
Space is limited so reserve your spot ahead of time! If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's event, please contact me in game on Gingerspyce or Voodu.
Thank you to the community for all the support and special thanks to DDOCast and DDO Chronicle for mentioning our events. We hope to see you in raids soon!
Much love,
Gingerspyce and The High Lords of Malkier
PS. All are welcome to attend our Thursday Night Abbotfest and our Friday Night Raidfest. These events aren't as formal as our teaching raids but we are happy to explain how the raid works to new players.
