Guild airships discount

I was going to purchase a mid level guild ship for astral shards, which would have required me purchasing more astral shards from the store, until I realized to get the next ship you would still have to pay full AS price. Therefore, I decided to wait on buying shards, since it will be down the road before the next ship is within range. But it’s my understanding that at one time purchasing a ship would get you a discount on the next one. It seems as though more ships would sell this way. Does anyone know why it changed? There must be some good reason. But would a return to discounts be a better option? I know it would be for our guild, but maybe not bigger picture for the game.

When Guild Airships were updated they removed the trade-in values but also significantly lowered the costs to (somewhat) compensate. However, as you discovered, players get the best value by jumping straight to the Kraken.

When I went through the process, I purchased and used the platinum cost Airships until I accumulated 4,000 Astral Shards for the Kraken. All my Astral Shards came from sales on the Astral Shard Auction House. It took me two years but I am a solo player of poor skill so anyone can do it given enough time and effort.
