Default Optimizing DPS for Archer Ranger on Herois Levels...

As the title says... i have some lifes to do for my completionist and i was on a 2 year break from the game... i need some information from you guys...

I will make a Arcane Archer Ranger... with MAYBE a splash on rogue for traps... but the main idea is pure ranger.

I need information on the best possible gear to tweak my damage... i want to do the most damage i can in those 9 lives i will run with a ranged build

    Thanks ppl

    Welcome back, OP.

There are several threads for pure ranger archers:

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...or-New-Players
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...layer-Friendly
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...ed-pure-ranger

Rogue-splashed AA ranger builds all tend to look like Tempest Trapmonkeys, albeit with ranged feats & Enhancements instead of melee, of course. Couple of builds in this thread.

For heroic leveling, it's largely a question of whether you plan to focus your APs on DWS or AA. AA is all about boosting your imbues (Spellpower) while DWS is focused on boosting Doubleshot, base & sneak atk damage, and special attacks like Sniper Shot.

If you have ToEE, your best heroic bow option is Sapphire Sting; note the improved crit profile and 10% Ranged Alacrity. Beyond that, you want all the usual DPS-boosting gear like Deadly, Seeker, etc.

    Heyyyy thanks mate!

I have read a lot of other threads, including yours about a pure ranger
But im struggling a lot to find a thread specific about heroic gear sets for fast TRing thats what i made this thread

I will play with a dedicated rogue so i will go full ranger... just decided
About the focus, my focus will be purely ranged combat... no melee :P unless absolutely necessary...
I plan to focus my AP on AA, i have read that AA is the best for damage in heroic... what are your thought about that?
Im familiar with the best bows already... i have the silver longbow and the sapphire sting but i have no idea of what to equip in the other slots... if there are good named items or if its all about cannith crafting.. ( which i have only lvl 10 xD )

Im completely lost about heroic levels...

The only item i find that seems like a good boost to damage is Wind Howler Bracers... im looking for more things like that, that can help increase my damage

Another bow you might consider if you have it/can get it is Unwavering Ardency
Not an especially common raid being ran anymore, but it happens once in a while and you did play 2 years ago so you may already have it.

Take electric and force imbues and find items that increase ,magnetic and impulse spellpower.
For the former. the House Cannith Challenge Bracers of the Wind is a great item with some very good spellpower, some dodge and perma-blur. You can get it a L3 and it upgrades every 4 levels. It can also upgrade at each individual level to get an augment slot but that takes a lot longer if farming fresh.

Take a level of artificer instead of rogue, for 2 reasons.
    1. rangers already get evasion
    2. you get to use a repeater at low levels, and it does way better damage than a bow at low levels

you will want to invest in deepwood stalker for the 4th core ability

Advanced Sneak Attack: +1 Sneak Attack Die. +10 Positive Spell Power. You gain a +1 Competence Bonus to Critical Threat Range with your equipped weapons. (This does not apply to Shields or Unarmed). Your attacks now bypass 10% fortification.

Yes you can use it, Shadow Arrows is exclusive with the core imbues, being a core imbue itself.

    - deadly,
    - seeker,
    - doubleshot,
    - ranged power

items, and ranged alacrity for the firing animation are must haves for decent Bow dps.

Ring of Prowess is good for those final (17-20) heroic levels, particularly if you pull one with a Mythic Weapon bonus. And I appreciate it's BtA so you only have to farm it once.

The quiver from L14 Grimm and Barrett has some doubleshot and Ranged power.
Other than that you could farm a slaver's set for some L8 gear.
Also Ravenloft has some gear sets (either a 3pc or a 5pc)
Also you can try farming named gear with mythic bonuses.
Since Ranged Power was a (relatively) late addition to the game, very little RP exists in heroic content.
And again, do not underestimate the significance of spellpower for your elemental imbues.

A couple of suggestions for gear at low levels (10 and under):

Level 4 you can craft (house c challenges) the Frozen Tunic which gives a chance to turn things into ice for a few seconds allowing easy kills.
Level 4 bow Greatbow of the Scrag is a drop from an outdoor named chest in 3 Barrel Cove.
Silver Longbow is level 8 from The Church and the Cult. Old version is lvl 6 but has no red slot.
Level 5 you can equip the base items from Chronoscope and get set bonuses
Level 6 Shadow Strike is good with a disintegration proc and only lvl 6
Level 7 you can equip the base items from Red Fens
Level 7 is sapphire sting, which is really good at level 7 from ToEE
Level 7 also has + longbows that can be upgraded in ToEE (craftable)
Level 9 White Plume Mountain Inferno Sniper
Level 7 heroic Slavers gear including the Executioners Helm and Symbol of the Slave Lord trinket (very nice for that slot through level 20)
Level 10 you get Ravenloft Gear (if you have that pack) which is good enough to wear through lvl 20. (bracers, rings, boots, gloves, necklace, belt, cloak) Go for the double set bonus of Adherents of the Mists and Silent Avenger Sets.
Level 10 Ravenloft bows from turn ins... there are a couple of longbows (Barovian and Macabre versions) that you can turn in the Vistani Talismans to get.

From there, you can keep your Ravenloft set bonus equipment on and upgrade your weapons. Level 12 gets greensteel, level 14 bow of sinew or unwavering ardency. Those will get you to lvl 20 as well.

I finished my Completionist TR's and back in a ranger life. I splashed a level of rogue and thus far have found all the traps on elite. For gear I am relying primarily on the Barovian longbow but also carry a Silver Longbow and greensteel Lit II. The Keylock Ring (one of the Ravenloft quests, I think) is a great mid-level rogue item since it has pluses on search, spot, disable and open lock. I spent the early levels in an acid arcane archer mode but I'm trying out the falconry tree right now. No preference yet. My hard decision will be which one will go tier 5. Slayer arrow or Death from Above.
What do you mean a -6 armor class is no good anymore?

Baldric, Mulray, Tirimon, Clant, Melkazar, Dorakeen, Blastium
If one of them falls off a cliff, it ain't their fault.

My suggestion would be to go T5 Deepwood. If you want fury shot, you can use sniper shot instead AA T5. Strikes like lightning and heavy draw are better than what you will get otherwise. Plus, the other skills are good as well.

    12 wizard
