Default Announcing 5th annual teaching raid series for new players - Legendary Shroud Jan 6!

Happy New Year Sarlona! I am very excited to announce our 2018 teaching raid series!

For the 5th year, the High Lords of Malkier will be hosting teaching raids for new players. This is a series that we started in 2014 where every week during the winter and spring we host different raids in a friendly, low stress learning environment that is designed to be welcoming to new players as well as veteran players who are new to raiding.

These events are designed for people who are new to the raiding scene or still learning raids. Even if you've never run a raid before or feel that your DDO skills or gear aren't adequate to run raids, that's ok, these events are for you. In years past we've had hundreds of DDO'ers from long time veterans who've never raided to a player who literally never grouped with anyone before. If you've been avoiding raids because you thought you weren't good enough or you were intimidated by them or maybe you were turned off because you had bad experiences, then you are who we have in mind for these events.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community. We know there are a lot of people who have even been playing DDO for a long time and have avoided raiding. Our teaching raids are a great place to start! If you're new, this is a great time to learn! There is no level cap for any of our teaching raids. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

We will begin the 2018 series with one of DDO's classic raids: Legendary Shroud, this Saturday, January 6 at 9pm EST! Due to the high level of Legendary Shroud, we are going to set the minimum level to sign up this week at Level 24.

If you are new to Legendary Shroud, you will need to be flagged, which requires completing 2 quests in Meridia: Creeping Doom and To Curse the Sky. You can run the quests on Heroic or Legendary to flag just the same. These are different quests than are required to flag for heroic shroud. We will only be running Legendary Shroud.

Usually all spaces are spoken for by the time of the raid, so reserve your spot ahead of time! If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's event, please contact me in game on Gingerspyce.

If you're feeling unsure and you want to see how we run our events, you can check out our collection of teaching raid videos in the Guides & Strategies forum that we did during the 2015 and 2017 series.

We hope to see you in raids soon!

This event will be live streamed on my Youtube channel.

Thank you to the community for all the support and special thanks to DDOCast for mentioning our events. We hope to see you in raids soon!

    Much love,
Gingerspyce and The High Lords of Malkier

    PS. For new players...
There is a help chat channel on Sarlona where new players can ask veteran players questions in a friendly environment. See this thread for more details and If you're new to setting up chat channels, you can check out my video How to join a chat channel and modify chat windows.

Still space available for tonight's Legendary Shroud teaching raid. I will be out of game most of the day until about a couple hours before the event but just hit me when I'm on prior to the event if you want to join. See you tonight!

Thanks High Lord’s for the walkthrough. Anyone on Sarlona wanting to try these raids, but is intimidated by pugs, should join one of these groups. Very laid back, and they walk you through every step, including what can go wrong. Not just an easy completion, they take the time to explain it all.

Glad you enjoyed it and hope to see you in future runs

    Default Great inaugural run!

We had 3 people who were new to or still learning Legendary Shroud, including 1 person who had never run heroic or legendary Shroud! Looking forward to another fun season of teaching raids and meeting new and old players who are just getting into raiding or are learning some of the newer raids!

In years past we worked through ever raid in the game twice during the teaching raid series, however with more raids than ever in DDO now, we won't be able to fit them all in twice, so some older raids will only happen once during our 2018 teaching raid series.

Here's the live stream and we will live stream all events this year!

Next week's teaching raid will be Riding the Storm Out (no flagging required) and I will post details in the Sarlona forum soon. In the mean time, get flagged for as many raids as possible ahead of time because we're doing them all!

We hope to see you in raids soon

Default Had a BLAST! Thank you!

Thank you to all the High Lords for taking the time to do this. I had so much fun and learned a lot. I've been playing DDO since 2009 but never did any raids, until now. So, if your new to DDO or an old vet and wanna learn how to run these raids, this is the place for you!!! Very informative and educational, down to the smallest details really. Great bunch of folks.
