It fascinates me how polarizing this movie is among the Star Wars faithful.
I'm an "Old Fart", saw all the originals in the theater first run, and a lot of the old timers and hard-core fans have come out with a lot of hate for this film.
But I really enjoyed it. It's a very meticulously crafted film, and I was very pleased with the level of detail. I have also seen it twice
(once opening night and again with my son). Very re-watchable due to all the additional details you pick out second time around.
Well, I've grown up with Star Wars, but am only old enough to have seen The Empire Strikes Back at the cinema on release (as a young kid)... and I liked Episode VIII much more than Episodes VII, VI, III, II or I.
(Then again, I also remember what Frank Herbert did to Paul Atreides in Dune Messiah... when heroes get too powerful, they must fall or everything ends up over 9000)
The best review I've seen . . . (SPOILERS and political humor).

I really loved it. I'm a Sith fanboi though so take that as you will. Let the past die!
100% radical, enthusiasm enthusiast.
"Have you tried preproccing feat directory?"
Agreed.
And I feel like this is a huge evolution for the SW cinematic universe. It's no longer just Lucas' coincidence-driven, tunnel-visioned, everything-connects-like-Lego creation anymore; and Star Wars can (and should) go anywhere now as a result. It can still be that. But it can be so much more now, too.
I say that as a person who has seen every single Star Wars film in the theater, at least twice - and loves em dearly. I think my lifelong love of Star Wars is why I'm a card-carrying geek today. And I don't see Episode VIII wasn't a betrayal of any of that. I see Last Jedi as Star Wars hitting maturity, and ready for new things.
Its polarizing due to their having been an insanely complex and immersive canon already developed by books, comics, etc, and then the new owners come in and dismiss all back stories in their entirety so they can rewrite them and create their own, now canon, versions. The fans who are being negative are constantly comparing the old canon with the new, showing where the new doesnt add up, and are even more irritated that specific favorite characters no longer exist in the new canon.
I liked the movie as it told the new version of the story well. I just wish they had not erased 95% of the old story to tell this version.
It’s not Scottish so it’s ****. Seriously though it is pretty bad Snoke, superwoman and game hens made it so I won’t see another SW movie in theatre something and even Jar Jar didn’t do
Beware the Sleepeater
