Hello folks, how are you reacting with this attempt to remove the "Net neutrality"

I'm from Brazil, and this has come a very negative way.

I've been calling my state Attorney General in support of the impending lawsuit against the FCC's ruling - as well as all my elected representatives at the state and federal levels to express my outrage at the ruling and encourage them to act against it.

It's not a done-deal, and there is a lot folks can do to fight it.

At the very least, contact your states' elected officials and urge them to act to preserve Net Neutrality. A simple Google search can help you find their phone numbers, and the calls themselves don't take long. But, silence is inaction - and by extent sanctioning the ruling. If you want that ruling to mean nothing - you need to get involved. Don't just think somebody else is going to handle it for you. Apathy fixes nothing.

I'm not really up to speed on all this Net Neutrality stuff... prior to its implementation in 2015, was there a problem? What was the impetus for the Net Neutrality laws in the first place? Were all the fast tracking/slow downs that everyone is talking about happening prior to 2015?

I've opened up a pitchfork and torch company, we are in the process of becoming an LLC, which will be far more profitable under the new tax system that was just passed.

We are also in the negotiation phase with Tesla Motors inc for the development of a new engine that can work entirely on tears.

And opening a nonprofit organization , inspired by the under ground railroad that will help smuggle people into Canada and help them settle in and get internet access.

PS. the laws were changed back to the way they were from 1996 - 2014. Calm down.

Even DDO obviously has people that dont respect freedom of speech and freedom of information.

I called my elected representatives also. I still need to call my state's attorney general now that the resolution passed.

For others in the U.S., you can find out who your congressional representative in the house is at this link, if you don't already know: Find Your Representative. It's still worthwhile to call that representative and your state's two senators in order to urge them to support federal legislation that would restore the regulations protecting net neutrality that the FCC just repealed. Comcast and Charter (and probably other ISPs) are already lobbying for legislation that would set the FCC's repeal in stone.

Sorry to do this, but I have to close the thread. I get that this is an important discussion that is happening in quite a few places, but as can be seen in the thread the discussion very quickly gets bogged down in partisan politics, name calling, and personal attacks. We just can't discuss this issue here as it is too political, and we do not allow political talk on the forums.
