    Default normal runs?

Is there any groups/people out there that just do quests or normal? I typically just solo because I know most of the population don't want to run quests on normal. I'm just wondering if I am alone with how I play the game or if other people run quests on normal as well.

From Lvl 1-19 the answer's pretty much no as the only reason to run Normal is if you can't run the higher difficulties for any reason {mainly not being able to open until you've run normal.}.

The thing is that as soon as there's two of you the chances are you're gonna knock it up to at least Hard anyway so Normal from 1-19 is pretty much a solo difficulty for those who can't open at least Hard and don't want to beg for an opener to join them.

From Lvl 20-30 Epic Normal becomes much more popular but even there it's fading as more and more of the remaining players can run the higher difficulties without trouble.

You are familiar w/ how Favor works, how running normal only gets you 1/3 the favor that Elite (or Reaper) gives you?

Favor is a huge source of both in-game perks and extra DDO points. If you're VIP, the latter may not matter, but I find the beni's are hard to walk away from. Not to mention that huge bonus to XP for running Hard/Elite streaks.

And, sure, you can go back later and run them over-level just for the favor - but why not take care of both while you're there the first time?

Hello, Twoton. I also play on Normal Difficulty--Heroic and Epic--but I usually run multiple clients at once so dungeon scaling makes things more interesting. I find that a first life Thief (Rogue Assassin) on Normal difficulty, in quest equipment with full dungeon scaling, is about the closest I can get to the "right" difficulty for me. If I bump up to Hard or Elite I cannot handle the Monster Rush or get one shot by Monster Champions.

I had a friend who played on Casual but she left DDO because it was too hard.

Unfortunately, difficulty in DDO is so gigahumungously uneven that one person/character will struggle through something another person/character breezes through. You cannot really get good advice about difficulty because everyone plays differently.

Anyway, good luck with your search! I am not on Thelanis or I would offer to quest with you.

I never run Normal unless Im doing Epic dailies.

If Im soloing in Heroics I tend to stick to Elite as its quicker than running Reaper.

When soloing in Epics I usually run first time Hard for the same reason.

That being said its also class and PL dependent - luckily I have one or two Heroic, Iconic and Epic PLs that help, but sadly Ive already done all of the clsses I consider to be the "easy buttons"

The main thing is to have fun

Usually I do, I'm on a toon that is on her 2nd life, but she lost a lot of gear in the reincarnation cache, so she's basically a 1st lifer with an XP penalty.
In the little time I have, I do slayers and some quest on normal or hard, depending on the quest. It's very hard to find groups these days, but I put up an in/progress LFM everytime.

    @ new(er) players -

A lot has to do with your build, too. If you just threw together some classes and feats, using what you learned from DnD, and "hoped it all works out", your build might be a lot weaker than it needs to be, than it should be at level. DDO is NOT DnD when it comes to character creation - start w/ a Forum-recommended build, and if you must then tweak from there, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel all by yourself.

VERY easy to throw together a build that comes out looking strong, but then starts to fail around Level 8-12 or so, and only gets worse from there.

If you're new to the game and wondering about a reliable build, OR are using your own build* and noticing that quests are just getting harder and harder, try starting here:
    o Build Respository

(* This is one reason why every new character is given a free +0 Heart of Wood, to go back and "fix" mistakes. GL!)

I run on normal sometimes. I do so because I don't have VIP and my 1st life characters can only open on normal (unless they've run the quest before) and nobody in the group is VIP/can open higher.

I also run on Normal for those quests that I am not able to get through on higher difficulties. This became a real problem when they crippled stealth tactics.
