Default ML5 shard used, item became ML10

Not sure what went wrong. I bought a fey chainmail in the AH, that was already disjuncted. It had a blue slot. Said it was ML 2.

Used an ML5 shard, added constitution and healing amp, and ended up with a ML10 item. Not sure at what stage it became ML10, didn't notice until I was finished.

To experiment, I bought a disjuncted splintmail from the AH, not fey, but did have a blue slot. It also said it was ML2. Also used ML5 shard, and constitution. Didn't have mats for healing amp, so I added false life instead. This item is ML5.

Comparing them, they are very similar, just fey chainmail has I think +2 ac compared to the splintmail (and of course healing amp vs. false life). The stats on the ML10 chainmail are very bad for an ML10 item, it really looks like an ML5 item.

Did I miss something, or does this seem like a bug?

Sorry, what you're missing is that higher tier armour has "absolute minimum levels". It's better armour than lower-level equivs, so never goes below that level once it's crafted.

So, yeah, you've crafted ML 5 stats onto an ML 10 item - sorry.

It's absolutely inexplicable why, when disjuncted, these items are not listed with that minimum ML - but they're listed much lower than that. :P

Edit - Same is true for shields, and similar for items w/ yellow (ML 3)/green (ML 5) slots - but nothing else (not red, not colorless).

Fey chain mail has an absolute minimum level of 10, usually this shows up on the item somewhere, if it didn't then it would be a display bug. (Being level 10 is working as intended though.)

ok, I understand now what I missed. However, This is more than a display bug - this is a break in the CC system. Allowing me to use an ML5 shard, and putting the equivalent of ML5 prefix/suffix on the item (con +4, HAMP I think +12), is straight broken.

Ans its easily fixed by not allowing me to use a ML shard on an item below that items true ML. Would take one line of code to fix this issue.
