What happens if you set Read Only attribute or change permissions to the file to remove write access? Will it prevent the launcher from modifying or corrupting the good file? This has worked in the past for other game files, although not .dll files.

i have kinda of the same problem wich started after i bought my new pc on last friday
i install the game and it was fine till sunday ... when i try to login i was not able to and got the bad image error msg.. i repair and it worked until i had to log again then i try to repair again and it said patch didnt work or something like that... so i reinstall de game and it worked but later it didnt work again... so i deleted all again reinstall it and whille it happen i found this thread
after reinstall it worked but like 1h after it didnt work anymore so i change the core4 file and it worked....
now i try to log and i was not able to again... i went to look at the files and the core4 was fine but the gui4 was at 0k i switch it and it worked....
something is corrupting the files and it need to be fixed or at least tell us a way to fix this for good....

I have been playing every night this week and even tonight - quit for supper then went to re-log and got this error. Luckily, I found this thread and took cmecu's advice and checked the backup directory to compare files. In the main directory there was a 0 KB file QtGui4.dll - I replaced it with the one in the backup folder and now i am killing Orcs again!

This has been happening every single time I launch the game. So I have to copy the file from the backup directory every single time I launch the game. It is very annoying. Any plans to fix this issue?
