DirectX issue

Been getting this error message once or twice a play session for the last month.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers (I assume successfully).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!



So it won't let me upload the images. The messages on the images read as...

Could not initialize Direct3D. Please ensure that DirectX 9.0c [Dec 2005] or higher is installed. [105]


The game encountered a fatal DirectX issue while attempting to start. Try a different screen resolution or bit depth. If that doesn't work, try new video drivers.

I have been having a similar issue, but game starts fine but if I alt-tab out to another window or open the store and auto window swap then when I try to return to game it crashes with this directx message. I have DirectX 12 and it is up to date. Anyone else with this issue or able to shed light on it. Only started happening to me since Tue 5th Aug 2017

Ditto, still get error message when tab out game then return.

So I think I have figured out what causes my issue: anything that causes the client window to minimize. DDO store? Crash. Firewall pop up? Crash.


Anyone know what I could do to give ddo priority and not minimize every time something else wants to pop up?

I found a fix for my problems, I changed Options: Graphics: Display Screen Mode from "Full Screen" to "Full Screen: Windowed" and I can alt-tab and store to my hearts content now.
