    Default Inventory and TR'ing

After reading a few posts about how people have lost stuff permanently I have decided to make sure I know all of my options to save my gear before my next ETR.

If I understand correctly the stuff lost was being worn by the character or in their inventory.....so if I make sure to move everything to my shared bank or character bank then I should be safe?

    Just confirming

    Thanks

not quite that simple. and no clear definitive 'safe' TR methods.. just guesses since it is a relatively low chance of losing stuff..
I am at about 300 TR's across my account and have come across TR screw-up 3 times in 4 years... so 1/100 for me...

There are some things that appear to put players at risk of losing stuff that is common among players that have TR lost items

~Levelling to 20 or 30 then doing a Reincarnation without relogging first.

~Taking a level 30 for a Epic reincarnation followed by a heroic reincarnation without relogging.

~Doing a TR 'too quickly'.. make sure you are fully logged in , moving, everything is loaded , before doing any activities..

~Relogging quickly after Reincarnation before waiting a few minutes for everything to load .. possibly some background stuff was still running and interrupted by relogging too quickly..

~Overloading the TR cache.. off load as much as you can to alts .. The TR cache is risky as well as being a poor storage medium
Reducing the Cache to as small as you can seems to help.

    ..
    and importantly alt 'P'

Screen capture each page of your inventory before you TR, make special screen captures of important items.
    ..

The GMs/Dev's can sometimes help.. but its hit or miss.. some players have had stuff reimbursed, others have been told too bad, cant recreate items.. there is no consistency on the help you get..

I was told by GM's 2 years ago that they could not recreate items even with my screen captures as evidence.. they fixed my tomes and destinies,
but couldn't fix my favor and told me there was nothing they could do about my items and instructed me to put in a bug report.. which I did.. and.. two [expletive] years later and still I have not got a Dev response or my stuff back.
and yet some players recently were fixed up in a matter of days..

If it does mess up I would suggest being persistent and keep nagging them, forum posting, PM'ing.. whatever..
Unfortunately I took the GM at his word and left it to the bug report when I should have been a harassing ashhole and pestered them daily.

First, understand that it's a VERY small %. Those who have suffered it have been understandably vocal, but we don't see posts from the 1000's who TR without problems.

    That said...

It's worth it to make a free alt account and offload 100% of non-bound gear. 80 slots/alt x 3 alts for free, 12 tabs should cover it.

BtA goes into shared bank (and/or to other alts in that account), BtC goes into normal Bank (and hope for the best). This includes all gear worn - reincarnate naked. (It's the latest fad, everyone's doing it!)

Take a loooong while between all phases in reincarnation. Let the game load 110% between screens, no rush.

(Another suspected "loss" point is immediately after the brand-new Lvl 1 alt appears in The Grotto quest. Just let that sit a minute ~before~ opening Inventory!)

Your case was 2 years ago, maybe part of the monitoring they implemented is how some people have had stuff replaced. I hadn't heard of anyone getting replacements until after that.

    That's a poor excuse,

Lost items are still lost items and they always had the ability to recreate items, just chose not to.
especially the Colossal ingredient bag that was a DDO store item.

So replacing items for players now is just simply BS, I am entitled to replacement or fair compensation just like anyone else... time is not a valid excuse.
I did my due diligence by bug reporting with all the information that was available to me... they never responded.

besides that wasn't my only case .. 3 instances over 4 years.. 2013, 2015 and 2017. all bug reported and ignored.

    Default In the seems

Lost items seemily seem to be tied to Racial TR. If I was going to jump on the Racial TR bandwagen, then I would not take my 2 free inventory slots and 2 free banks slots from favor, and make sure I leave enough room in my inventory to unequip my gear even though TR Cache is created.

EDIT ~ I've done allot of ER then TRs and a bunch of IRs and haven't had any lost item issues, yet.

    That would be incorrect.

its been 4 years for me and others..
My items were lost on TR's long before Racial Reincarnation was a even a thing,

Heres a couple where items went missing on an ITR from 2013

reincarnations have had a chance of screwing up for even longer than that.

IR came out in Nov. 2013 and you don't mention in either thread that you lost items. I'm sure you would complain loudly on the forums if you did, or at least would link those threads instead showing you lost items due to IR. Of course something brand new in any year will be buggy at the start. I'm talking about how to try and mitigate the issue with the new racial reincarnation.

Awesome that you haven't had an issue in 4 years.

Do not have items in the favour inventory or bank space when you TR, that may be a problem. The fact that I have not had a problem is not an great indicator that you won't, but that's one of the things I do, make sure that those spaces, if I bother to get them at all, are empty.
