I think the only conclusion you can make then is that:
a. the game is going to die.
b. Ravenloft is a brutal and cynical cash grab.
Typical DOOOOM stuff.

I suspect there's too much truth in that. Which is then quite telling about how much they make from $hard $ales given how fast they reacted to that recent snafu.
I'm personally leaning towards the exacerbating part. Before we had Epic Reincarnation, I saw very few and far between complaints about losses/issues from Reincarnation - and that was still during the heavy Reincarnation era that followed the easy leveling of Bravery Bonus. Then when ERs came around, we started having Tome, Karma & ED XP losses which were easily (and generally quickly) restored by in-game GMs; and item losses were still much more rare and minimal. Then RR hit Lama and item losses were rampant. When RR hit Live they continued, but still seemed (anecdotally by observation of reports) largely linked to "double Reincarnations" (either doing an ER for a PL or doing a +Lesser to change a recieved Class PL).
Lastly, as a matter of personal opinion: anyone buying the "it's just affecting a small %" or "it only seems like a lot because of the popularity of RR" is buying a beech front condo in Wyoming. Reincarnation has been a massively popular and highly used system in the game for several years. As a matter of % we should be seeing less & less complaints as the population has become less & less - the exact opposite has been true. Even though our population has been clearly getting smaller over the years, these TR loss issues are becoming more & more common. Smaller population + increased occurrences = a larger % affected now than previously.
I would still like to see... Something that tests character versatility and player adaptability rather than character focus strength and quest knowledge.I play the quests for the content of the quests not just as an XP/min merry-go-round.Actual play experience is worth infinitely more than theorycrafting...
My conclusion is a bunch of people from the same server came out to support their friend and bombard the forums with this TR issue and doom talk thinking it will get SSGs attention and help him get his stuff back.I hope he does get his stuff back, but only SSG knows if it's even possible at this point. They may not respond to this tactic for the simple reason they will see much more of it if they do, but who knows. The actual TR issue is certainly important and hopefully it will be addressed.
I lost stuff on Khyber, and don't even know that guy. Stop nuthugging. Nobody cares about your voodoo conclusions when their stuff is gone.
They SHOULD see more of this "tactic," if by that you mean actually making a public statement when things that took literal *years* to farm disappear. I know half a dozen people who just quit rather than complain, because they knew nothing would get done. But go ahead, keep posting in defense of a company that can't even be bothered to respond.
I guess this is part a of what bugs me - losing your karma/xp/whatever sucks, but it tended to be a quick fix, and that's something you get as an aside from levelling anyway. You can refarm it, even if it's a bunch of pugs with "hey, sorry, I'm in Magister. Bring res scrolls." But losing items that they refuse to restore can be a gamekiller. There's not a whole lot that we won't put up with in this community of masochists, but if I sign on and my ESoS is gone, I'm done.
And that's part b. It's not only popular and used, it's encouraged, and arguably the greatest strength of this game. "You can play the content again, which you were going to do anyway, but now your name is known, and you're a little bit tougher..."
Reincarnation should be bulletproof. Anything else is an embarrassment.
Your conclusions continue to lack logic and reading comprehension. I clearly stated I hope he gets his stuff back and the issue is important. Your conclusion I am defending SSG is just more lolz notion from you.I think it's great they support their friend, but they seemed to stray from the actual issue to useless doom talk. The only voodu is from you. I have a basis for thinking SSG should investigate fast logouts as one contributing to factor to the TR issues considering I experienced the issue 3 times before I followed advice and took my time logging out.. You have no basis for discounting it except your lolz notions like since I hope he gets his stuff back and state it's an important issue = I must be defending SSG. What is there to defend anyhow lol?
Which is kind of the point. Yes, it's happening more frequently now due to more people doing TRs for the racial PLs, but regardless of frequency, it's a severe and potentially game-ending bug for anyone that gets hit by it.
In the past, it was partly compensated for by Turbine's customer service being willing and apparently able to restore whatever was lost and usually adding a little something extra on top as an apology for your troubles. Since SSG split from Turbine though, good experiences with Customer Service over issues like this have apparently become virtually non-existent, which makes this long-standing bug that much worse and that much more urgent. Yet, all we get from the devs is radio silence and all the victims of the bug get from customer service is "sorry, you're SoL".
It should have been fixed years ago but wasn't because apparently Turbine and now apparently SSG are too busy rushing out new things to make a quick buck.

I find it quite telling that it wasnt until after the upsurge of complaints that they put in "monitoring tools" to even diagnose the issue. Not when it was just easily fixed Tomes, Karma & ED XP; not when it was known on Lama, not when it was sent Live as-is with the discovered on Lama loss issues; only when enough complaining happened.
What has been the communicated result of that monitoring? "It's a tough problem that requires back-end work" with no eta or further comment. More like smoke up our back-ends. Their silence speaks volumes, and their actions /lack there of say even more.

This is the second guildie of mine to lose all their ****, and the 4th person I know of in game. 2 of them are just gone BTW. Dude. So ya. DOOOOM
Of course we're here to complain. I won't spend another dime on this game if I'm running the risk of losing a friend every few months because CS doesn't plug the RR hole.
Its unethical to produce an expansion when your CS backlog is a month long at the least. Doooooooooooom
No, I'm sure you weren't asked directly to censor anyone on this topic.
However, it's an unfortunate fact that the community has no shortage of apologists and white knights willing to champion SSG even in the most indefensible of circumstances, without being asked. Like the very vocal and ridiculous 'there is no lag' brigade that plagued these boards for years, up until and including the months-long data centre migration fiasco.
These people are very happy to 'defend' the company even when what they are doing actually hurts it, like attempting to drive off paying customers who don't share their point of view. Or insisting that everything is fine, when it clearly is not.
Based on what I've seen of his posting history, Gratch does not strike me as the disruptive type. Yet apparently he was somehow 'caught in the crossfire' which suggests the moderators' approach was somewhat on the heavy-handed side.
So maybe rather than shutting down the discussion, you could invite a representative from SSG on to make a statement.
They could talk about whether there really is anything that can reduce the likelihood of this bug occurring, what players with this bug should do, and to give us the much-needed assurances that people affected by it will be helped consistently and in a timely manner rather than treated like inconveniences or potential exploiters.
Thanks.

Thanks for the support.
I take your point about the tone of my post, but I've always had a problem with people/companies who say they're sorry but are not actually sorry enough to fix the problem they've caused. That sort of thing really makes me doubt their sincerity.
Now I recognise the system issue may be complicated and take time to diagnose and fix. But there is no excuse for not replacing lost items and doing it quickly for people affected by this bug. In my view, the company should also be offering a little something extra for the inconvenience.
And the silliest thing about all this is, if people were getting decent quality help with this problem, it would not have turned into this ****-storm here on the forums. It would just be a minor inconvenience that we would grumble about but endure, like so many other less than good parts of this game.
Take care.

The doom is more than just the garbage CS for in game issues, for a noticeable amount of time they couldn't even take your money through several payment options. When my sub got double billed last year no one from SSG did anything about it. I eventually had to file a paypal dispute which they didn't respond to either. Then we have the case of people buying game codes that don't work, and so on... 1 year later and CS is still garbage.
I just reinstalled after a four year hiatus, and it's a travesty that the DDO devs have not prioritized fixing this devastating problem. I was one of the first to experience this issue 4.5 years ago when I lost all ED XP after a TR: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...-Reincarnation. It's obviously easier for 'customer service' to fix each individual instance of this problem then it is to spend the effort to prevent this in the first place. That's a terrible customer experience, and make us feel like an afterthought. The TReadmill is the lifeblood of DDO. When players lose confidence in TR, there's zero reason to stick around long term.
I think it's great to support a guildie/friend. I think it's a great point to raise. I think the point would have been more effective without the doom drama and without the personal attacks. That just increases the likelihood they move on to something else if for no other reason than to not encourage that type of behavior in the future.
I hope he gets his stuff back. I hope SSG looks at the issue - I don't think the doom drama or personal attacks helped that cause by even a little and could have hurt it a little.
I got most of gear back. They are working to get me the rest. Still miss tomes ect. But they are doing something now!
