    Question Whirling Steel Strike Feat

    Half-Elf Dilettante: Monk
    Description:
You have meditated alongside monks in the most remote of places. You gain proficiency with the quarterstaff, kama, and shuriken, and can add up to 2 points of your Wisdom bonus to your Armor Class. This Armor Class bonus does not stack with the similar monk class ability. For item use purposes you count as a level one monk in addition to any other classes you possess. This feat is not recommended for characters with actual monk levels.

Will this feat qualify for the Monk level 1 requirement to use the Whirling Steel Strike?

My guess would be no. Whirling steel strike says that the prerequisites are:
    1) Weapon Focus Slashing AND
    2) Monk Level 1 AND
    3) one of (Proficiency: longswords OR follower of the sovereign host OR Half elf: Fighter dilettante.)

It doesn't list any alternatives for the monk level 1 requirement.

However, the best way to find out is to check yourself. If you have veteran status 4 or 7; roll up a completely new character half-elf and level it to 4 and see if you're allowed to take whirling steel strike. You can even test how effective it is in a couple dungeons if you want before deleting your test character.

Jen: Half Elf Fvs 4; Healer Archer on a TR with friends
Mayve: Drow Bard 14/Wizard 6/Epic 7; Vampire Enchantress

I must be missing something. If you're not a Monk, why take a feat that does nothing but allow you to remain centered with Long Swords?
I would still like to see... Something that tests character versatility and player adaptability rather than character focus strength and quest knowledge.
I play the quests for the content of the quests not just as an XP/min merry-go-round.
Actual play experience is worth infinitely more than theorycrafting...
