Default Can't buy items on sale because of VIP

    Hey,

Summer sale is nice and all but I can't find most of the sale content in the store because I am VIP for a month... I was waiting for the Deep Gnome to come on sale so I can play it when I am nog VIP any longer. Is there any way to fix this? I'm sure many others have this problem with like adventure packs and other classes.

You clearly didn't read my post or I am not seeing content you are seeing on that website... I want to buy Deep Gnome and I'm talking about adventure packs. Not Expansions. The website DDO Market store only offers like Menace, half orc and shadowfell. There's so many adventure packs and like classes not on there.
And it's not like I asked to be VIP this month. It's because of the whole Paypal issues months ago.

Exclamation I had a similar experiwnce

I had a similar experience when I was VIP for Black friday sales. But when I asked what they could do, they basically ignored me when I wanted to buy content and a race and some other things I did not own which was on 75% sale.

The only thing I can suggest , is you request that they terminate your VIP immediately so you can purchase what you want.

I dropped VIP myself (at the end of my contract) after this situation. Basically once you are VIP, they make it as difficult as possible to leave without a multitude of pain. I just buy what i want now, although with nerfs occuring in U36 on three of my favorite characters (wolf build, paralyzing repeater and terror shurikens (I understand these were not as intende, but limiting the fun to rangers makes DDO boring, I doubt I will be spending much at all. I have finally reached the point where I don't feel it is worth spending money to play this game. I am tired of developing a character I like and having it become no-viable So i guess I will use favor when i get it, but my wallet is now closed.

They should be looking for ways to diversify the game, not squeeze us in to fewer and fewer viable character and class choices.

Unfortunately one of the caveats of VIP subscription is that while you are a VIP, you can't access any VIP content, which means that you can't buy it at all while a VIP, whether or not it is on sale. If you want to stay a VIP for the duration, you won't be able to take advantage of these sales, but if you decide you prioritize the content over your remaining time on the VIP subscription, you can ask for it to be terminated in order to gain access to the sale. However, once you ask for your VIP to be terminated, all remaining time would be wasted, and you wouldn't be able to continue as a VIP without buying another subscription. If you choose to terminate VIP, I'd suggest making sure the sale you want is going on, and still will be going on by the time the termination is processed. Good Luck

Knowing support these days and having this issue because of their Paypal issues months ago I doubt they will terminate it within a week so I can get the Deep Gnome before the sale ends in a week. I'll probably end up having them terminate my VIP the day after the Deep Gnome sale ends and not having either of them.

How freaking hard is it to give us an option to check a box to see all store content while being VIP or not on the right character level? It's not just us players who get screwed over by this but Standing Stones is also missing out on items being sold in the ingame store. Don't they want to earn money from us getting DDO points?

    hi

Same, i'm VIP for a month but can't buy the morninglord at -75%
We put real money in the game, feeding SSG but we can't manage our purchase as we want
Not possibly to make distinction in DDO between what you have really in your account as purchase and what you have with VIP and make the possibility to buy it

i feel like an aggrieved buyer but this not the way to manage your VIP accounts!!

noway to pause the VIP account for buying, just cancel it and its what i'm going to do...

Seems like this would discourage players from wanting to buy vip. Not addressing this issue seems like a bad business plan.

    Default Common

This topic is a fairly common one here in the forums, especially when some nice sales are taking place. It certainly is an issue that needs to be addressed, but so far no attempt by SSG (and previously Turbine) has ever been made to come up with a work around. A looooong time ago, you could call Account Support and they would do the purchase for you, but that practice was never mainstream and did not last long.

Honestly, they need to have a way to either "Show all items" option in the DDO Store or else have a way to log in to your Account Manager and "Pause" your VIP status for an hour or a day or whatever.

That would go against their intent to prevent VIP's from buying their way into FTP via purchasing packs on sale or with their 500DP/month as a VIP.

by blocking VIP access to sales and pack purchases they force the VIP to stay VIP or quit VIP.
If they Quit VIP they lose the VIP perks and can then buy the packs and.. of course... the sales are scattered randomly through the year.. which just tends to peeve off the ex-VIP player who no longer has the all inclusive status..

If they made a way to pause VIP or show all items, I am guessing they would attract a large number of new VIPs faster than they would lose long-term VIPs. There is always "more to buy" that would keep a lot of people renewing their sub for the 500DP per month, meanwhile SSG is double-dipping their customers' wallets (with the customers full awareness and consent) who are paying for a sub and at the same time buying content.

    why bother with pausing.

Just let VIP's buy whatever the pack they want.

I think they hide things a VIP owns so they don't "accidentally" buy something they think they need, and then later realize they didn't need to buy it because it was included in their VIP sub.

It's a shame we can't take advantage of the sales. I took a 6 month hiatus, came back and bought VIP for the coin and access but also with the intent of having TP for the sales. Now I can't touch the sales for items I want. The quick response of "Sorry, we can't help," is rubbish. I won't pay continuously for VIP. 3 Months was it; I pay for 3 months maybe twice a year. If someone wants to buy something, let them buy it.

Look everyone, Warlock is on sale 75% off! Except to our loyal active VIPs... That's not how you treat "paying VIPs", guys. Paying customers should get all the perks of the F2P community, including all the sales, and more benefits added.

A simple bit of coding that informs us we are about to buy something we already own outright (Having bought the package already) would be all it takes. Then, let the buyer beware.
The coding it would take to make this work is substantially less than what it takes to create a new expansion pack.

I already own most of the content I want from the game; what's left is "Nice to have."

    But that's me.

At this point, I'll have all I care to own when my 3 months runs out. After that, when I get bored, I'll go play another game where I feel, if I buy into something, customer service will be more willing to work with me as opposed to trying to pigeonhole me into constantly paying.

I agree with you. And for this reason people have not appreciated the vip codes that came with ravenloft and that there were so many people saying they preferred points.

If SSG wants to have more vips, SSG should think about doing the subscription more practical. A complete access to the store is the first step for it. As it is, I think it has more inconveniences than advantages. And I know that many people refrain from being vip a few months a year because of this inability to buy things for sale.

SSG needs to stop and consider a few priorities to improve. And this is one of them, since it impacts very directly on their profits
