Default Storage - a simple solution?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy this wonderful game of ours and have sunk many an hour into playing it. I’ve watched and read whilst people whinge and whine about all manner of things that personally bemuse me and yet there is one thing that has always struck me as odd in this game. Storage.

I have my backpack, which can be sorted by type and searched
I have my bank, which is tabbed and cant be searched
I have my TR caches, which is one long list and cant be searched
I have my shared bank, which is paged and can be searched

    Fantastic, four different storage methods…
Yet, to be honest, I prefer the auction house interface

Consider if you will if YOUR storage used that interface.
You still have your backpack (through necessity)
Now though, when you go to the bank, and AH style window pops up.
All your items are in one bank (maybe have a tick box across the top to include TR cache items)
The bank is searchable by level
The bank sorts into categories – hit level 3?, just pop to the bank and see what your toon can now equip

Surely this would be a far more efficient way of managing storage, and the interface already exists. Would also make it very easy to show how many storage slots you have left, and, for the TR Folk everywhere, have one button that transfers from TR Cache to Bank (greyed out if there is insufficient space).

    · Please note : this has NOTHING to do with Warlocks, Nerfs, Exploits or random dead horses

Inaccurate statement: this has EVERYTHING to do with dead horses and flogging the same.
It's a good idea, it would work for most of us, and its never going to happen. Not unless you
Rage,Whinge,Moan,Grumble,Witter,Sulk (loudly),Threaten to Quit (repeatedly), Cancel sub,
and get everyone else on the forums to do the same. Oh and you must also call for MOAR
warlock nerfs, buffs for ____________(insert random class here), and whine that quests are
too easy, and that back in the day when cap was 16 you needed a full party armed with +2
swords of demon bane (race restricted of course) to do any of the harbour quests. [But you
tell young people that these days and they just dont believe you (dodgy northern English accent)]
Phew, I think that is about it.

    This, please.

It would actually enable me to play the game again.
I have 13 bank toons loaded with 100 items each, for a total of 1300 mostly BtA gear. The 200 bank slots I bought are a joke.
I spent more time looking at loading screens logging into and out of my banktoons than I do enjoying the game. Literally. 2 hours of questing followed by 3 hours of inventory management.
I quit two years ago because I couldn't stand it anymore (alongside the duping and the plain incorrect description in enhancements etc.)
Now I'm trying to revisit DDO, to check out the champions and reaper difficulty and new stuff, but I feel like before I can actually play I have to sort out the huge inventory mess. There's just no fun in running around with 4-level-old equipment knowing you got the perfect gear setup somewhere but the shared bank is full and and you don't know where it all is anyway.
I don't feel compelled to run any raid or cannith craft anything because it just means more stuff that I won't be able to find.

I really want to actually play this game again and would easily pay 500$ to be able to do so, but for me that more or less requires a by-level searchable storage with capacity sufficient for the diversity of items (30 levels, ~100 items per level makes 3K sound like a good start). Ideally also with an option to search alt's inventories, but let's start simple.

I don't have a subscription I can 'threaten' to cancel since I already bought every pack, class and other features, but that is just dead money now. I got a fine job and want to game in the evenings and weekends so I would happily spend the same amount I invested in this game to be able to enjoy it.

It is something we have been asking for and yet DDO still thinks its something not worth spending time on..

We don't have a large consolidated storage location that can encompass everything I want to put in it.
All these separate storage mediums for current player storage is clusters of clutter..
Meanwhile the AH sits there all pretty as the one stop shop..

I don't understand why they do not give us a purchasable all encompassing large storage medium with a AH interface...

I have money to spend.. just waiting for SSG..

The problem is the DDO store.... Bank storage is one of the few things you cant do withhout and to simplify storage would mean buying extra storage wouldnt happen. In a nutshell, this ends up being a conflict of interests for the devs. Make storage fucntional / give up on selling extra storage or carry on with the status-que.
