I like it when my enemies can't reach me because they're busy getting controlled or doing something else. I smile when this happens.
I also like CC that comes out quickly and stays for a while. And I really don't like slow casting CC.
I also like having some sort of insta-kill available for that one pesky mob.
And I like damage. But I don't like running out of spell points.
Introducing!!!
GiggleLock - Laughter is the best medicine. Also acid, apparently.
This is a warlock based on the Conjuration spell school, with the great old one pact, using the Shiradi tree to introduce the mad deeps and random crowd control.
Why conjuration?
Evards and Web are muh jams, and both are quite effective and can be stacked on top of each other for maximum giggles. They come out fast and have unique properties. Evards is effective as a slow regardless of save, and web is a solid backup CC just in case Evards is on cooldown.
Why GOO?
(Sorta) no save confusion is cool.
Acid blasts being will save for extra damage is awesome.
Power Word: Kill is fantastic for this kind of build.
I enjoy being able to knock on doors when I want them open. Rhythmic tapping and all that.
Lawful alignment is for squares.
Why Shiradi?
Bewitching blast, evards, and nerve vemon all work together to make sure I don't get touched. I don't like germs.
It means I can pretend to do good DPS for free.
I do enjoy a tea break now and again.
Put it all together and you have a group of confused mobs all hitting each other, getting stunned with no save, and tangled up in webs and tentacles like we're on the dark corners of the internet. All the while dying to the bouncy bouncy chain blasts of the warlock.

This build does not require the tomes listed, or any tomes at all.
It can be played on a first life character. Just drop CON a bit.
It also does not require past lives, but Wizard, Favored Soul, and Sorcerer past lives will help.
The less of these things you have, the harder it will be for you to control enemies and thereby live.
---- Notes and thoughts
I use drow for the new U36 easymode spell resistance, but human and dragonborn are also both solid picks. (NOTE: Drow SR is still being reviewed and is subject to change, but there is little difference between playing this as a human, drow, or dragonborn)
I also use Tainted Scholar/Soul Eater setup because while ES had great trash clear, the single target DPS of it was a bit too unbearable for me personally. You can play safe enough to do well with this combination, particularly with the no save spells and control granted by this setup.
Playing with ES does work particularly if you find yourself dying a lot, but you trade single target damage for it. This build works a lot better with Bewitching Blast- especially with the new agro changes- so you wouldn't really want to go with a ES/SE setup.
Playing with SE T5s gives you more AoE through the stellar eldritch wave and more damage through the extra crit, but I like my DCs tasty. You'll still want the TS capstone in this instance so it makes APs a lot more tight.
I playtested this solo in several Epic R1 quests on Lamaland using a hireling and not-very-optimal equipment- the hardest quests for this build are quests with a lot of range. Luckily, most of the time you can take cover from the hail of arrows or spells and play it out slowly. Saves weren't a huge deal because of the MRR+SR combination, though right now the extra drow SR is pretty nuts - if you can get the same result or even 3/4s of the same SR with gear+drow, you still won't be threatened by many control spells.
If all things stay similar, I'll be rolling into this build for my next life on my now-overused bard.
I laughed a lot as I was playing, and that hasn't happened in a while.
Feedback is always welcome. I've been out of the game for a year so I might be a tad rusty.
