Default Thoughts on Warpriest/Ravager Draining Tank?

I'm intrigued by utilizing the Warpriest's Burden of Sin enhancement, and thought it would be fun to make a tank based around holding opponents on them with intimidate, and piling draining effects on them as mobs try to pound away on a high CON heavily armored tank.

Burden of Sin: 15%/30%/45% Chance on Being Hit: The enemy that struck you gains one stack of Burdened. (-1 to Strength and Dexterity. This effect stacks up to 10 times, and loses one stack on expiration.)

    Combine with the Barbarian Ravager's

Do You Like Pain?: When you are hit: [20/40/60]% chance attacker loses 10 AC.

    Items like:
    Bracers of the Demon's Consort

    Other enhancements like:
Demoralizing Success: Passive: You gain +30 hit points and +10 healing amplification. When you score a vorpal hit in melee, you inflict Crushing Despair on nearby enemies for 30 seconds on a failed DC 20 Will saving throw. You then inflict Vulnerable Will for 15 seconds, regardless of the Crushing Despair saving throw.

I thought i'd go Dwarf for extra CON, and use a shortsword with some Con damage effect on it to swing away and take enemies down down down as everyone else pounds away on them..

I'll probably throw something together this weekend and give it a try.. see what happens.

I was rolling something like this for fun. It could be nice for de-buffing enemies.

    Some other things nice:
Ravager t2: fear me - shaken on intim
t3: aura of fear: -2 to all stats by proximity

    Occult slayer:
t3: arcane encumbrance - 30% chance enemies damaging you with spells will fall down.

If you're favored soul you go t5 unstoppable magic for -3 spell resistance.

I haven't worked all this out yet but I think there is some potential. Friendly casters could have +3 DCs and +3 spell pen just by having you around. However, I ran into a major problem early on: when spending points in ravager, Intimidate is broken. You get a limited number of intims then it stops working.

I submitted a ticket after doing several tests so I've not bothered to try to refine the build yet.

yeah, there seems to be a bunch of things you could pile on and just bog down the heck out of mobs. i doubt it will be much fun solo, but in a party, it could really take the weight off everyone else's shoulders..

    i'll give it a shot.

Well I always love the idea of trying out new builds, and think that underutilized builds are cool/fun/wish they were more common, I can't see this one being that good overall.

I mentioned in my suggestions for a warpriest rework (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...ight=Warpriest) That I thought Burden of Sin was one of the worst abilities in the game; and I stand by the statement. At max rank; mobs take -1 strength and dex 45% of the time, which means once every 4-5 times they HIT you; they do -1 damage per swing against you and get -1 AC (as well as reflex save). To stack the ability up to 10 times, it takes an average of 22 hits against you; so you're not going to get it to max stacks against any monster who deals more then 5% of your HP in damage without healing. Not to mention that if they hit you 22 times and you're tanky enough (or good enough at healing) to take it; they probably missed you as many times, so you're talking about sitting around there for 45 attacks or more from the mob. If you're at a difficulty where this is possible (taking that little damage from an enemy); then it's very likely that either you've killed the mobs, or someone else in your party has; long before the stacks manage to stack up. Furthermore: http://ddowiki.com/page/Epic_Ward makes this even harder in epic levels; so this ability in its current iteration falls of quickly in epic levels. (Can I call it fall off if I don't think it was good to begin with?).

The main upside of burden of sin; is that if you manage to stack it up to 10 times; some low-level enemies might become helpless; Although the ravager enhancement cruel cut will still be much better at this then burden of sin (Instant effect, no maximum, hits con = HP of the target and also deals damage).

Do you like pain has a similar problem; it's a % chance when you're hit to apply a small penalty to the opponent. To be fair; I think a 10 AC penalty is actually decent at low levels and in legendary content; but in middling levels players tend to not have to-hit problems, and therefore an opponent losing 10 AC isn't that noticeable of a buff in DPS.

There are a lot of cool guard effects and abilities in the game; and I would love to try a tanky build that synergised with such, but I feel like they're all way too weak to make into a solid build; and the best option for a tank is to just focus on pure defense and maintaining agro; or defense and more typical dps styles (such as cleaves, shield bashes, doublestrikes etc).
Selvera: Aasimar Fighter 20/Epic 10; Old and wise fighter.
Jen: Half Elf Fvs 4; Healer Archer on a TR with friends
Mayve: Drow Bard 14/Wizard 6/Epic 7; Vampire Enchantress
