Default High Lords will host Hound of Xoriat teaching raid on Saturday, June 10 at 9pm EST

Our last teaching raids Master Artificer and Lord of Blades were smooth runs with a great turnout and a couple newcomers to our events. You can read about it and watch the live stream here.

The next raids in our series will be heroic and legendary Hound of Xoriat this Saturday, June 10 at 9pm EST.

All events in this series are for players new(er) to the raiding scene or players who are looking to learn raids better. First timers welcome! Dbags not welcome. Please have sound and be willing and able to follow instructions.

The goal is to welcome newer players into the raiding scene, to teach people how raids work, to get players more comfortable with raids, and to enhance the Sarlona community. There is no level cap for any of our teaching raids but you need to be at least level 14 to enter the Subterrane and you will need to be at least level 20 to enter legendary content.

If you are new to HOX, there is no flagging required. You will need to have access to the Vale of Twilight adventure pack. Heroic HOX is located in the Subterrane and is confusing to find for many players. We will start from the market and show you how to get to and open the way to the raid. We will also be exploring a fun and off the beaten path area called "The Deep Tunnels", where we will hope to find Xithzul, Son of Xyzzy, the Frost Fiend of Madness and we will swim through a lake of acid to find the Beholder Council!

We will be teaching HOX using the "Hall tanking" method, but we will also be discussing the more traditional "circle" and "collapse" methods so that you will understand the difference and benefits of each. We will use the heroic raid for teaching and then apply what we learned to the legendary raid, which uses the same mechanics. Heroic and Legendary HOX are distinct, so doing the heroic version will not put you on timer for the legendary raid.

Space is limited so reserve your spot ahead of time! If you would like to reserve a space in this Saturday's event, please contact me in game on Gingerspyce.

This event will be live streamed on my Youtube channel.

Thank you to the community for all the support and special thanks to DDOCast and DDO Chronicle for mentioning our events. We hope to see you in raids soon!

    Much love,
Gingerspyce and The High Lords of Malkier

    Default Amazing turnout!

What an amazing turnout! We had 7 people who were new to or still learning Hound of Xoriat, including 3 first timers and 3 newcomers to our teaching raid events. Several of the attendees didn't have much experience in the Subterrane, which included 2 people who had never even stepped foot into the slayer zone! So we took some time to show folks around and explain how some of the features like the runes and lighting work down there. On our way to the heroic raid we took a scenic path through The Deep Tunnels to explore a little known area of the game that is eerily beautiful and contains some unique and interesting areas. We swam through a lake of acid to find the behold council and the rare beholder Iograxllozx! Then we found the Frost Fiend of Madness too but Xithzul, Son of Xyzzy was not there this time.

We used the heroic raid as the teaching instance, which turned into a textbook example of how to do HOX using the "hall tanking" method. In this instance I was the tank on Voodu, so I explain on the live stream how that role works. After we completed, we used the empty raid instance to explain and discuss the merits and differences of the common methods of doing the raid, including the "O" or "circle" method and the "H" or "collapse" method.

After the heroic raid, we applied what we learned to the legendary raid and once again had a perfect run. This time I was part of the outside group and did the charming, so I explain some of the details of that role. If you missed it, you can watch the live stream below...
