    Hey Lynnabel not sure if this is in your pay grade or not but could you please look at or fix the bug with the Tier 5 Mechanic Rouge Time Bomb enhancement so it works on any surface instead of only perfectly flat surfaces.

    Thanks keep up the good work.

    This is also a thing that simply did not happen.

    My post that has caused so much consternation was short, so I'll repeat it here for your convenience:

    I have a lot of experience in a lot of different environments by virtue of having been a contractor for the majority of my professional career. I have seen videos with Steelstar in them and so I have a decent idea of his age. I guarantee that I have worked in and become intimately familiar with the workings of many more professional environments than he has, by at least an order of magnitude, simply by virtue of his age and mine. So I'm pretty sure I have a much greater breadth of understanding of how things work in general than he does. Of course anyone who is actually working in the environment beats me hands down on knowledge of it, and I am not challenging either Lynnabel of Steelstar over that, but I'd be surprised if he didn't have a rather tunnel vision perspective on it. I have seen that many times across the years. In any event, assuming that no one else could possibly have a suggestion for improvement which has any value is the height of hubris.

    I cannot count the number of times I was on a contract making money for my employer because some company or another went the route of "It's too hard to do this right," or "It'll take to long to do this right," and so they decided to just throw down a quick kludge that kept things running. Again. And again. And again. The problem with this approach is that after a while of the same practice being employed it becomes almost impossible to "do this right" even with minor issues that could be "done right," because they also have to be laid down on top of all the prior kludges. And in some cases issues simply cannot be resolved due to the presence of those kludges. It just becomes impossible to do certain things because of "spaghetti code." I wonder how many times we've been told that something couldn't be done due to "tech limitations" it actually was due to kludge limitations that were introduced years before?

    Oftentimes there is no way to move forward with a needed fix without a complete re-install and then applying those more difficult and more lengthy interim fixes anyway, just done right this time. And that's when the company will hire my company to come in and rescue them. At a much greater cost and with potential disruptions to both customer facing and employee facing systems. And in some cases there was just no practical way to salvage the mess they had made, and instead the solution is to bring in a new product entirely. Which they of course have to purchase. And then data migration can become one of the most challenging parts of the change. So you'll get no argument from me about data migration being a challenge. But that is with a data base with tens or hundreds of thousands of records. Not ~1,000 records. ~1,000 records could be migrated almost by hand from whatever "non-traditional database" they are in to an actual database which would have a huge performance advantage over the obviously lag-inducing method which is in place today.

    The game uses data bases, right?

    Oh, that's what you think happened?

    Here's what I saw:

    I post a suggestion about doing things right rather than fast, and provide three examples;
    Lynnabel says it's not always possible because of "non-traditional data base";
    I say then why not use a traditional data base, because that's what they are good at;
    Kylstrem decides to white knight with a post that added nothing to the discussion;
    Steelstar +1'ed him.

    I don't feel put in my place, or hurt, or upset. But if that what you want to think happened then that's fine by me.
    What I do feel is mostly resigned. I had hoped that SSG would be a new beginning and that a lot of the issues Turbine had would be left behind. I do not believe that to be the case, and I know I am not alone in this perception based on conversations I have had with the vast majority of the people I run with. The company name changed, but the attitudes and approaches of the people did not. And in the end it is people who make the environment, not names or slogans or promises of great things to come.

    Cool Another Bug/typo report

    If you are sent a guild invite and you are out of range. you get

    "XXX tried to invite you to their guild airship, but you are not near an airship teleporation portal." Teleportation is mispelled.

    Wow. I had to check that one out in-game, I didn't even believe you. But wow, you're right.

    Fixed for U36. I can't believe I've been playing for so long and never noticed. Thank you for bringing this up.

    Speaking of silly little typos: at the southern end of the Stormhorns bridge in Eveningstar, there's a War Wizard standing in front of a house (loc: r2 lx1013 ly1060 i75 ox109.49 oy85.44 oz215.35 h87.2). He says several different things, but in the one referring to the Drow being able to endure daylight, "then" should be "them".

    I know, it's silly, but while you're fixing little fiddly things...

    In the Dragonborn racial enhancement tree:

    You should swap the positions of T1 Hard Scales -> T2 Harder Scales (in the second column of the T1 and T2 tiers) with Draconic Visage | Dragon Breath (in the third column of the T1 and T2 tiers). And then add the arrow from Dragon Breath to Draconic Heritage. This will better show the prerequisite, which all of the other trees manage to do very well.

    Default just found 2 more bugs

    1. Candy Canes when broken completely cannot be repaired. They dont show up at all in the repair window. Weird.

    2. Epic Stonemeld plate lists 5 charges of stoneskin, lets you use it 3 times. Shows 2 remaining, but cannot be used anymore. http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Stonemeld_Plate_Armor Needs fixed so that all 5 can be used!

    ok part 2.5: I cant use the epic stonemeld plate at all anymore. Was in flames of chain in the desert, used it 3 times, clicking on it anymore didnt do anything. Came here to report it. went back to ship, rested up, shows 5 charges. Cant click on it, cant hit number its assigned too, noithing. weird!

    2.75 relog fixed it. And now it works correctly. Seems to have been a one time bug. Still, what would make an armour clicky stop working until a relog? weird, like the candy cane above! http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Candy_Cane

    Here's another one for you.

    So you know how sometimes when you zone into LShroud it tells you your'e not on the rest part of ritual sacrifice?

    The zone entrance to the shroud in Meridia can actually port you to Ritual Sacrifice instead.

    This is broken for most traps - if they paste some texture 1 inch above the surface, your web trap is on the incorrect plane and affects nothing. The beginning of Tracker's Trap demonstrates this clearly, with 80% of the initial area un-trappable.

    Thread is too long at this point to know if this was posted already:

    Quest giver for Overgrowth used to have <busybody> (or nosy neighbor, something like that) under her name now has only <>.

    They actually CAN be repaired! But it's 'spensive.

    The skeleton dude at the end of Phase 3 of Shroud can repair *anything*. Including broken candy canes. But he charges twice as much since he's an expert repairman. (Which leads me to ponder whether the one in Sands from Free Agent Favor can also do them, but I've honestly never even talked to her out of curiosity.)

    Here's something else...
    If you have 1000 or more items in your crafting storage, you can't see the total capacity. Instead of seeing something like "1282 of 1295", you just see "1282 of". There's plenty of room to display a longer string.

    A QUESTGIVER!!!! I shall return.

    I have come back! The journey was difficult, as the patron had to be sternly spoken to several times before he "allowed" me to even speak to his friend. A ardous airship jog later, without my lunch, I arrived in the presence of this "great" maytagish repairwoman.

    Alas, she did nothing. Acted as if my crumbled candy canes doth not even existing, she did! I would put a pox upon her house if I was not a Paladin.

    (executive summary): The quest is complete! You owe me money/reward.

    Ooh, somebody's doing homework. I can guess, but... How about

    - Shards? The button in your inventory window.
    - Whatserface in King's Forest.
    - The Efreeti summon thingy anvil clicky thing whatsit.
    - Rivetfingers on an Airship. Doesn't take damage, but it probably won't show up there either.

    If none of those work, you can have my extra candy canes.
