Default New Tuesday night Sarlona Static Role Play 8PM EST

    RULES

No Twinking. That means no platinum or items from other characters. No ship buffs, auction houses. Vendors should only be used to sell unwanted items or buy the basics needs (ammunition, spell components, thief tools) but no nice to haves scrolls, wands, potions. Use the DDO store for quality of life items like extra storage, bags, quivers, etc if you like. Use XP potions if you are lagging behind.

    Character Creation:
Name: Try to come up with a heroic name that helps with immersion in roleplaying.

Stats: Try to randomize your stats roll 4d6 minus lowest by hand and try to fit them in order rolled as close as possible to your DDO stats. This could end up with some pretty average spread around stats and should help form the basis for your character.

Trait: Every character should have a random trait generated from a list like this: https://roleplayingtips.com/tools/1000-npc-traits/

Motivation: Every character should have at least one motivation find a random generator of pick from a basic motivation like (Goal, Glory, Greed, Power, Patriot, Knowledge, Crazy, Redemption, Responsibility, Teacher, Thrillseeker, Vengance, Wanderer). Unmotivated or lazy motivations should be avoided you want to make a character that wants to or needs to adventure.

Hobby Skill or Quirk: One of the characters skills (class or cross class) is a hobby or quirk that the hero should invest at minimum a point into at very least every other level. Determined randomly.

Bio: At some point every character should write up a bio. no minimum or maximum length it should be posted online and shared for others to enjoy also others in the party should be able to see and make use of assisting to help you play your traits, motivations and quirks.

Level: Characters will start at level 4 to 8. Level range will be posted each week other than to catchup adventures should be done outside of game days.

Starting Gear: Characters should delete all gear assume ether robbed or another reason to be pretty much gearless (exception: tools, ammunition and spell points)

    Adventuring:
Session Length: 2 to 3 hours weekly starting at 8PM Eastern.

In character: The major theme for this group is role-playing adventure. This doesn’t mean we will sit and gossip in the bar but we should use out of character dialog sparingly and prefix it with ooc: or such. This also doesn’t mean that we necessarily need to go at a crawl and spends hour overturning every stone nor does it mean break neck speeds running as fast as possible to the end of the dungeon. Try to play your character and suspend your player knowledge and try to not worry about XP bonuses (bravery bonus, reaper xp, breakables, kill counts, optionals, etc).

Shrines: Shrines are fully usable; resting to recover hit points and spell points. Resurrection shrines are points in our role-play to allow a member to recover from a near fatal injury (try not to spam shines unless there is good role-play reason for it).

Quest packs: All members should be VIP or premium with most or all of the content the team leader should be able to pick any quest they wish to tackle for the week.

Loot: Share loot among the party. This is pretty important and fun in a non-twink environment.

Team Leader: Each week the group will nominate or randomly determine a team leader role. The team leader can decide to bring a hireling to be used by the entire party or can nominate someone else to bring a hireling the hireling can be included in the role play. The team leader is expected to determine the quest and quest difficulty. They can set it up to be played as is or can change the objectives and narrative to fit the group. The team leader will set the difficulty as they like or want but using these rules with no twinking will make even normal quest difficulties in a role-playing first setting difficult. The team lead should set the pace for the adventure and set the speed at going through the dungeon which can and should vary greatly from quest to quest. The team leader can add optional quest objectives or serve as a minor DM. This can be via extra queste dialog and flavor (ie: *The large fierce Goblin at the edge of the bridge looks upon you with disdain and hatred there will be no talking your way out of this fight!*) or via quasi random encounters (while resting or exploring handled by them going and pulling agro while the group waits). All of this is if desired and can be worked in and be made to have fun with it.

Voice chat: Microphones are optional but every player should have the option to act in character if desired so speakers or head-phones should be used by all players.

Death: This is not perma death and it is a tale about adventuring heroes where the good guys usually win. When you become a soul stone treat it like a serious incapacitating wound and let your party try and get you to a shrine and play out the revival. In the event of party wipe unless there is good reason to go back and try again by the party leader it should be counted as loss for the heroes and generally move onto a new quest.

    Current Roster:
    Cottor Holthran (player: dragons1ayer74)

If I can get some other players that are interested we will likely try for the following Tuesday.
