Default Do Dragonborn seem just a tad boring?

Not taking in account their racial AP enhancements, compared to other races they're pretty boring when you compare them to other races with out those races AP enhancements.

The only thing they get is a very small damage resistance to a single element. Humans at least get a bonus feat and additional skill points. Elves get those elf thingies.

I guess they are the only race with +2 cha.

They were new, so I tried em out for the novelty factor. After 10+ years, something new is at least worth trying, I thought. I approach the game for the fun of it, not the min/maxing of it. So, I tried a bunch'a builds and had a brief fling where I wanted to love em more then I did, so I kept trying to find a workable and fun synergy.

It didn't last long. Now those character slots are slowly being recycled into other things.

Sorc Dragonborn is good since they have the evocation enhancements.

They make a pretty solid Bard in my opinion if you're going for a Spellsinger enchantment focus type with evocation DPS spell backup.

To me PDK will always be king of warchanter/swash melee types because of the Cormyrean Knight Training.

You either like playing lizards or you don't. I played a DB Warlock to 20 and TR'd right out of it because I didn't find playing a lizard all that much fun. I've played trolls and ogres in EQ and all sorts of weird races in EQ II and WoW. I did all of those things because I had fun roleplaying the race in question. With Dragonborn I just never felt the itch to RP them. There didn't seem to be much there in the current world environment.

I wouldn't have had as much fun with the beastial races elsewhere if it weren't for dedicated resources like Grobb and Ogguk and Kerra and Thunderbluff and the Undercity, etc.

With Kobolds I'd go hang out in the Waterworks if I had too to get my fix of Kobold goodness for my little rodent. There was nothing like that available for Dragonborn in DDO.

Tried both, but I just never felt the satisfying "click!" of a build gone right. And I admit, it's me. I know they can work out just fine, but for me - DB just seemed like I had to hammer a square peg into a round hole to make it work. And that, again - for me, isn't fun.

The build that felt the most "right" was Paladin, which I may revisit as a DB in the future... but again, it just didn't gel as a fun build that I wanted to continue with at the time.

I wanted to like em because new things are rare in this game. But novelty alone wasn't enough for me to find any lasting appeal in Dragonborn, and I've moved on.

For me, I went with Favored Soul since It feels that Ideally, you want a class that you don't need much in the way of investments so that you can spend more on the race enhancements so you can actually have something racial.
