I've been playing a mechanic for a while now, and for the most part i love it. But there are certain things that kind of ruin it. The issues I've ran into are not so much numbers and such but more of the special attacks one gets with the mechanic.

1) Tumble Cancelling - Probably the most annoying thing with the attacks is what I'd call tumble canceling. The attack still goes "off" causing the attack to start its cool down, but it actually doesn't go off. I've noticed this with the landmine attack the most, where you have to stay standing next to where you planted the bomb for about a second or two and if you tumble the bomb just doesn't appear. But its also happened with the potion tosses too.

2) Crazy Throwing - Another problem I've seen is when you've got an enemy that is pretty far out (Which varies) sometimes the character will hurl the potion in a high arc in a place with a low ceiling, or throw it straight at the ground at your feet if the target is too far out. I've also see the character hurl it straight right.

3) Targeting - Likely one of the most annoying things with character that don't just m1 everything to death, is targeting. The sonic potion and ooze flask both have to have a target to throw, which in the heat of battle tends to be very difficult sometimes, especially when you're closer in the midst of combat because if you get too far the throws get dicey.

4) Speed loss - Anther aspect of these potions is the loss of speed you get while trying to use them. The slow effect of the tanglefoot bags for example is nearly useless if by the time you throw the potion, the enemies are already on top of you. (Not to mention many enemies do seem to be immune to it.) Couple the length of throwing, with being unable to tumble away, with the loss of speed and it becomes harder to use them and less.. Actiony.

So my solutions

1) Tighten up that issue mostly. The game should reward the more action based gameplay of tumbling and jumping and moving around more if it wants it to be part of the game, rather than punishing it. Should be able to tumble pretty quickly right after throwing or setting these bombs

2) if the arcing throw just can't be better pathed then perhaps a sort of missile like attack with them would help? Or perhaps take a page from FPS games and make the things function more like a gernade from those agames

3) If we did go with a FPS-esc gernade toss thing this becomes easier. You just simply don't need a target. Even without it, the Tanglefoot bag already doesn't need a target and as a result tends to be one of the ones I use a bit more.

4) I'd say that the gernades shouldn't even really slow you down, or at least not to the level of casting a spell normally, but no slower than mobile spell casting.
