    Default Supplementary Games?

Anyone who has read any of my posts knows I enjoy DDO a lot but basically suck at it. I dream of getting a character to the peak of power but sadly, that will never happen. Long before I collect enough +1 this and +2 that to become powerful, the game developers raise the bar as so I always struggle and the game becomes an unfun slog through difficult mire. This happens in every MMO I try.

I know many players love to struggle. They love dying a lot. They love harassing each other. They love killing each other. They love 'talking trash'. They love competing and showing off how they are better then everyone else. I am just not that way. In truth, I detest those things. While I certainly enjoy winning a good fight and crave power for my avatar, I gain more joy from exploring, solving puzzles, encountering new creatures, and controlling the destiny of my avatar. I enjoy great variety in character options, having lots of skills, complicated crafting, and so forth. I really dislike 'three button' games with 'carbon copy' characters and small numbers of highly repetitive tasks.

I actually enjoy meeting nice, new people and role play and so keep trying MMOs. Unfortunately, MMOs attract people who want player versus player combat and super tough group encounters with the best character equipment and perks reserved for those players. In meeting the demands of those players, my needs go unfulfilled in every game I try.

While I will play DDO for years to come, I would really like to find some games to supplement it. I would love to find a MMO where developers completely cater to solo players yet still allow group play. I would love to find a game focused on exploration, problem solving, character development, and an open ended story where I really get to make meaningful decisions.

I cannot find any games that truly meet my needs. Can any of you suggest something even remotely close as a supplementary game to DDO?

I know the immediate answer will be, "play a single player game". That is not what I want.

Join a static group or create one.

Or PUG with Livmo as an alternative (although patient, I'm know as an unrepentant zerger)

As far as other MMOs, they are out there, but don't give me my DDO fix. I would rather play Icewind Dale II or some classic SSI games. If you want to go super old school and can defeat the Balrog, then you may like this game, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moria_(video_game) . I still play it.

For DDO, the workaround is playing a stealthy trapper toon. You can set your pace in any dungeon, contribute to others by trapping, and use ranged combat or assassinate (build dependent ofc) to augment group fighting. I rarely raid and prefer my own pace, hence my love of stealth.

For non DDO games, the best (to me) is Baldur's Gate 2. Or Icewindale as Livmo stated! BG2 is solo play though, but wow what a story & journey

Did you know that you can use Baulder's Gate items in Icewind Dale II?

I have the mod somewhere. Someone else cracked and made it. It's pretty cool. However, I use the Mod to load up on stacks of FoD and PWK scrolls : ) )

EDIT Check out this link of IWD II Mods:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/icewinddale...d_dale_2_mods/

I think the one I'm using for the scrolls is Dale Keeper 2 at the bottom (has the Baulder's Gate items for IWD). These Mods breath new life into an old game and I've spent many addtional hours playing the oldies because of the Mods. I still have all the orginal game CDs as well
