Is the color spray DC good enough for a rogue build? It seems good with heighten, but a rogue build won't have the spell levels to bump it up.

I would assume you'd have to run in one of the arcane destinies to really pump the DC's up. You might also be feat constrained, but don't quote me on that one.

Don't the racial SLA's use character level and not caster level? Not sure ED will matter, nor class of the caster.

DC is likely to be 10 + half character level + Int mod or something like that.

Koob you are correct when elements of a Racial SLA use Caster Level the Character's Level is what is used.

What has been determined by testing on this SLA

These meta's do effect the spell's DCs

Heighten
Is based on your Highest Spell Level your character can cast. So if you can cast 9th Level spells, Heighten will bring this to a 9th Level Illusion spell DC. If you cannot cast spells above 1st Level for any classes in your build Heighten will not help

Embolden
This is just straight up DC

It also appears to be based off intelligence for the caster modifier.

Also, any enhancements/feats/gear that raise the illusion school DC will also help.

What this means for a pure rogue is that Heighten will not help with the DCs. While this is potentially -8 DC, you also need to consider that this is cheap, AoE, there are 3 saves for each Mob effected and you don't need to worry about Spell Resistance.

If the thought is to reduce the save of the mob so you have a better chance to land Color Spray then yes this is a good idea. Additionally, as a rogue you can create Hypnotism Traps. Hypnotism is a -3 vs Will save. So setting up one of these traps, pulling mobs back through to you and using color spray is another way to provide some AoE CC to your bag of tricks.

So there are two variants to the color spray xbow builds that I'm working on ....

11/5/4 Wiz/Rogue/Monk

And

15/4/1 Art/Monk/Wiz

Basically your spell level is six, so similar to bard or warlock, thus heighten will give DCs. 4 Monk for No mercy since color spray stuns.
