Bug? No Ki gain for pure Monk, Male Dragonborn

While playing the other day, my friend and I had finally noticed that his pure Monk Male Dragonborn was not generating Ki on hit. (While using handwraps and in the Water stance)

The only time he could was when he was in Fire Stance, in which he was only generating 1 Ki instead of 2. Any other stances, he would simply not generate it (aside from Water Stance; the passive +1 regeneration works)

I am currently playing a Rogue/Monk mixture, and I seem to generate ki just fine. (Using handwraps and staves) My character's race is a Female Dragonborn.

I had him submit a ticket about it a few days ago, yet no one has replied to him yet. I wanted to bring it to attention here.

Is this really a bug? Can anyone else confirm that Ki generation seems to be non-existant for Male Dragonborn? Or maybe it's just because he's pure monk?

*Note (Edited)* We think this has been happening since he started his monk at level 1.

I'd really appreciate either a fellow community member or a dev to confirm or deny that this is a bug, and if denied, please provide a work around for this problem (Or fix).

Thank you in advance. This "bug" is certainly hindering his ability to use his special monk attacks!

I know you state this has been happening since L1 but the question still has to be asked. Is your friend using Lighting the Candle in the Henshin tree?

Yes, he is. Is that causing the problem? And if so, will a Enhanced Ki item fix the problem for now?

*Edit* Ah, I did not noticed the negative Ki generation, thank you for clearing it up. Guess I overlooked it, thank you for shedding light on that! I'll have a work around for him shortly.

*Double Edit* I should have said that we thought he was having the issue at level 1 and up, since he was telling me about difficulty generating ki, but currently I Just had him turn off Lighting The Candle, and that has seemed to resolve all issues. Thank you again for bringing the -1 ki generation to light

For what it's worth, check out the L6 Henshin core. If he takes it and uses a staff, he will gain an additional +2 ki per hit, at which point he can probably turn lighting the candle back on and have no more ki problems.

But that's if he wants to use a staff which he may not.

I promised him more of a hand-to-hand fighting experience with this build. Hell I made it and I looked over the fact that Lighting the Candle makes it harder to generate Ki. (Going to have this handprint on my face for weeks)

We just dipped into Henshin a bit for a few things, but he's mainly Shintao and such. I'm just glad that this isn't a bug, and rather just an error on my part. One that can thankfully be easily corrected with some gear. He's definitely a lot happier now that it's figured out though. Thank you so much again.
