Default Druids and Spinal Tap (and orbs)

Ironically*, Druids are not allowed to use Spinal Tap, even though it's made from bone.

Any reason why? I know it's not a scimitar, but the requirements for druids is that they use non-metal.

Shouldn't there be something where druids can use all non-metal weapons?

Also--could we please make all orbs usable by druids? (looking at you--Orb of Golden Death).

There's already a blanket allowance for druids to use all scimitars, not just non-metallic ones.

(*"Nobody knows who they were, or what they were doing")

Take bastard sword proficiency and you can use spinal tap on your druid without penalty. (You can use it now, you just have a hefty penalty.)
Druid's can also use metal weapons just fine. It's shields, orbs and armor that are restricted.

Not sure what you're talking about; druids can use any metal weapons, but they are not proficient with bastard swords (or most martial weapons). So if you want to use them without a to-hit penalty, you either need to take the relevant proficiency feat or (in the case of martial weapons) splash a class with martial proficiency.

Using metal orbs (or Runearms) violates Druidic Oath the same way metal shields or armor do. Why can druids use metal weapons but not other metal gear? Eff if I know.

Licensing restrictions probably. As much as forumites love saying that DDO isn't D&D, it actually is heavily based on source material lore. And when it comes to certain things, the developers, apparently, are even contractually restricted from deviating from the source material.

Druids restrictions of metal only effect Armor and Shield...

If they use metal armor or a shield made of metal they can't cast or use supernatural abilities.

This means you can equip these items but you basically lose what makes you a druid.

As far as not being able to use Spinal Tap - Are you saying you can't cast or take forms? Or are you just saying you are taking the penalty from using an Exotic Weapon without proficiency?
