Thread: Champs nerfed??

    Ran a couple of GH sides last night with three other guildies (we ran Trolls, Maze and Discord) on Elite R3.

    Did not see one Champion but saw a lot of Reapers. In Discord we came across 4 Reapers that converged in the NE/SE arms. At the end fight there was a reaper on one of the pillars. Turned a normally tricky end fight into mayhem (we lacked an arcane nuker so it got sticky). The Reapers proximity debuffs/damage is pretty nasty. Not decided if it's overkill for them to debuff cleric heals the way they do (given self-heals are already debuffed).

    Overall loving Reaper mode, it has certainly put the challenge and requirement for teamwork back into the game.

    Level 2 quests will never have champions, nor will level 3 quests on hard difficulty, as champions don't appear below adjusted level 5 content.

    There is that setting. There's a drop down on the quest entry window that lets you pick a setting with no champs guaranteed - it's the one labeled "Normal".

    Been seeing the same. Ran the Slavers chain three times this last weekend, all on legendary elite and saw two champs, no remnants.

    Default Fewer champs but... ?

    Mostly running EH this last week or so. I am also noticing fewer champs. A group run through all of the Stormhorns arc on EH produced almost no champs.

    Now this may be totally be my imagination. But it almost seems to me like the devs might be sneaking in some mob AI improvements in on and since U35. In some "dailies" that I've run quite a few times and are almost down to muscle memory at this point, I've noticed mobs just doing some unusual, unexpected things. Sometimes "smart" things. Sometimes things that have tripped me up. Nothing that's killed me or prevented a completion yet, but it's definitely slowed me down in my zergs for money and power XD.

    Maybe it's something tied to the new aggro mechanics that I just hadn't noticed yet. But at times something makes me wonder if the combat AI didn't get some stealth upgrades...

    Is it my imagination?

    The way it looks right now, that "No Champs" setting includes hard and elite as well. Not that big a deal, when they were spawning, I felt that the post-U34 non-Reaper Champs were heavily nerfed from prior anyway. Prior to U34 my Monk could get into trouble in a batch of Reapers. After the update, I only barely noticed them with the rest of the trash mobs. Now they just don't exist.

    definitely something going on with Champions. ran the Legendary Shroud flaggers earlier on EE and no Champions. it was actually fine with me this time because I was in a very very painful group.

    The shortage of Champions seems to depend on the mission. For some missions, I get Champions and remnants at the frequency I might expect, but other missions give nothing. I ran Black & Blue on heroic elite with a level 11 toon. I killed everything - hundreds of mobs. I got one champion, who did not drop any remnants. Similarly with The Newcomer, but I think there were two champions (but still no remnants), but I ran The Newcomer first, and was not specifically counting the Champions ... I just ended it with a feeling of "where were all the Champions?".

    I noticed that some mobs seems to be moving much more quickly.

    Not sure if it was earlier in this thread or in a different one but... It's pretty clear it has to do with how the mobs spawn. Things that spawn in quest like: skele coming out of tombs, spiders coming from the ground, bats dropping in, gargoyles activating, etc can still be champs.
