Thumbs up Potential Racial Past Life Feats - Let's Help the Devs

This got lost in another thread, and we need to expand it to help the devs come up with the best racial past lives:

There should be an active component, which takes a feat slot, so for the Dwarf PL we should have:

Active: Belch of the Depths. You remember more about your past life as a dwarf and, three times per rest, can belch with the furor of a dwarf. This belch does 1d20 damage AoE and scales with the perform skill. Anyone within the radius of the blast must save or be sickened (DC: 26 + con modifier), and further, female characters are subjected to a fear affect (DC: 26 + cha modifier). Note: This feat cannot be selected if you have selected Half Elf Dilettante: Barroom Belcher.

(I can see using this past life on my bard!)

I also propose a human PL of:

Passive: In a past life, you were human. Occasionally you remember having exceptional bonuses to your action boosts, until great beings called devs inflicted their wrath upon your kind. Each time you get this past life, you lose one use of action boosts per rest. Note: Your number of action boosts per rest can not reduce below zero.

Active: Human verisimilitudimilitiyness. You remember more about your past life as a human. You are granted one additional feat slot.

I'd just rather some sort of visible marker for racial completionists. Special wings or some such. No reason to hand out more power.

and so it begins, the anti power brigade against those that want a decent past

And like class active PLs, it costs a feat to take that, right? If so, then, cool, I'm on board.

I think it's OP, it should cost 2 feats slots to take!

Half-elf active past life feat: "Fine I'll stop scaring small children" Activate this feat to put a paper bag over your head.

But for the dwarf active past life feat, we would get a new animation (I'm picturing like when Anna, in the lost thread, leans back to show how powerful her spell surges are) and a new sound effect.

You are right about my suggested human past life feats. The amount of power they would add to the game would make reaper content, well, trivial. How would you suggest toning them down? After all, we are going to get the past life feats, it's just a matter of making sure the devs know what we expect from them.

Good point for the human active past life feat.

I like the half-elf active past life feat. How about this for a passive past life:

You were a half-elf in a past life. You occasionally get a fright when you see yourself in a mirror. Each time you acquire this feat, you gain a -1 bonus to charisma based skills. This feat can be stacked up to three times. If you have more than three stacks of this feat, then you also gain a stacking -1 bonus to Wisdom, Intelligence, and Charisma.

I don't know. It might be OP.

This is absolutely right. Give racial past lives a cosmetic boost. Maybe add some XP reduction when playing the race. Just please don't add in something that adds to power creep in a big way.

More players will walk away from the game if there's a longer run to the finish than completionists will if there's not.

OhMyGosh Wings are my favorite cosmetic in like everything. I absolutely love the level-up animation, for instance, and it's the main reason I'm interested in Reaper.

For Halloween all Half-Elfs get a paper bag over their head and this feat lets you take it off

    You are right.

Racial Completionist: You win the race! You've leveled to 20 in every race, and for your effort can take this feat to get a -15% bonus to experience earned, with an extra -10% bonus to Reaper Experience earned. When more races are added, this feat will deactivate and you will need to gain those past lives before this benefit reactivates.

Remember - Racial Completionist takes a feat slot.

    As long as they're balanced:

Halfling: +1 critical threat range with thrown weapons per stack of this past life

Half Elf: Gain access to 1 class tree from the class you've picked as your dilettante. Each stack of this past life grants 5 free AP to spend in it.

Elf: Get 10 free points to spend in the elf arcane archer enhancement tree, per stack of this past life.

Drow: Each attack gains 2 poison damage per stack of this past life, increased to 4 at level 20 and 8 at level 30. additionally you gain +2 to saves against poison and +2 DCs to any poison based attacks per stack of this past life.

Human: Every second, heal 10% of your max HP.

Dwarf: Gain 5% HP and +2 to your fort save per stack of this past life.

Gnome: Gain +1 illusion DCs per stack of this past life, this does not apply to phantasmal killer.

Half Orc: When you log on, power attack automatically turns on, even if you do not have the feat.

Dragonborn: Gain +3 PRR and +3 MRR per stack of this past life.

Warforged: Gain 15% fortification per stack of this past life.

And, of course to increase the grind, each of these should stack up to 10 times.

I see no problems that this could possibly cause

Racial completionist should be granted free, and should be a stacking 2% movespeed per character level, with an active that grants 100% doubleshot and removes the doubleshot cap for 30 seconds + 6 seconds per character level with a cooldown of 2 minutes.

    Shadar-kai

Passive: You were a Shadar-kai in a past life. You occasionally find Bauhaus tapes in your backpack and feel overcome with angst. Each time you acquire this feat you gain a body piercing. This feat can be stacked up to three times.

Active: You recall more about your past life as a Shadar-kai. You gain the ability to use a whirling chain attack three times per rest. (Whirling chain: An AoE melee attack that does 1d2 damage plus an additional 1 point of damage every 10 levels. Targets can attempt a reflex save for no damage. The DC is based upon your character level minus your highest ability modifier.)

    Gnome:

Passive: You were a gnome in a past life. You occasionally find yourself wishing for a red pointy hat and a nice garden. Each time you gain this feat, your height is reduced by 3%. This feat can stack 10 times.

Active: You recall more about your past life as a gnome. You have a -1 to UMD and gain the Callumnie Smackdown feat. (Callumnie Smackdown: when you active this feat, Callumnie becomes a purple-named enemy and you are able to get revenge upon him. Usable three times per rest.) BUG: Callumnie Smackdown also works with Coyle.

    Warforged

Passive: You were a warforged in a past life. You occasionally find yourself explaining to people that warforged are not robots, robots are only found in the Barrier Peaks. It seems like people just don’t get it. Each time you acquire this feat, you gain -3 to diplomacy.

Active: You recall more about your past life as a warforged. You use the repair skill instead of the heal skill to regain hit points when resting at a shrine, you are healed by repair spells rather than healing spells, and gain the ability to equip docents.

I was kind of hoping they tied racial AP to racial TR's and made it so regular AP can't be spent on racial trees. That way they would be able to just balance race vs race rather than try to balance race trees with class trees...which in my opinion hasn't gone too well over the years.

You can only equip docents. (race restrictions still apply.)

And I think we're now up to 3 people that either only read the title of the thread, or really missed the point.

I know this is not helpful, but considering U35 will be in Lammania next week I am sure they already have the racial PLs planned out...
CANNITH player. Recently returned to the game after 2 years, proudly back with Skunkworks my old crew. Finally hit completionist after 6 years on Pyrau (2017)!! Have 10 other epic characters across all play styles, some TRs.

That reminds me. (Sorry not very good at flavor text part.)

Half Orc Passive: You gain exotic weapon proficiency: halfling.

Half Orc Active: You can throw your halfling for 1d10 per (halfling) level bludgeoning damage. Halfling is lost unless you make a successful intimidate check.
