    Default Game freezes computer

I don't even know if this is a ddo specific issue, but it's been happening more than normally the last few days. Once in a while when I'm playing ddo, the game lags for half a second and my computer freezes up. Usually there is a buzzing from the microphone at the same time. The only way to unfreeze it, is to force shut down the computer.

This used to happen once in a while at random moments, but this happened twice within an hour 2 days ago, and it happened once today. Yesterday I was fine. Both 2 days ago and yeasterday I was recording using Bandicam, today I was dual boxing. I have had up to 5 game instances running at the same time without any freezes, 2 days ago it happened in Meridia and in Let the Sleeping Dust lie.

My computer specs that may be of interest:
    16 GB ram
    AMD Octo core processor
    AMD Radeon R9 Graphics card
    SSD
    Windows 10 Pro x64

    Automatic updates are on.

Now that I think of it, could this possibly be something with the graphics drivers?

    Which version of Win10Pro - x86 or x64?

If it is x86 your 16GB of ram are a waste. The OS can only see 4GB, and the app can only see 2GB.

Set the game to use direct x 9 for a while and se if that fixes it. If so, it would be the games use of DX 10 or 11. It may be audio related though as well. With multiboxing and streaming, I can only imagine you are playing in windowed mode? If not, try windowed mode (in full dx11). The way graphics cards, windows, and games handle fullscreen rendering can be fickle when swapping page buffers or controlling them for streaming.

    Original post updated, it's x64.

I mostly use Full screen windowed to easily click between game windows (and change monitor). If I'm only playing 2 chars, I usually have them on different monitors. You can only have full screen on the main monitor, the second will always have to be windowed mode.

I record, I don't stream, though my system should be somewhat optimized for streaming.

It's weird, because I've done like several hours non stop recording before without issue, then my computer freezes up during a 10 min recording.. and of course the file becomes corrupt when that happens, and I have to start over. It's quite annoying.

I could try DX9, though I can't imagine why DX would be causing this, as I've run the highest DX ddo supports for a while now (was that 10 or 11?).

When was the last time you opened your box and blew the dust out? Also check case vent holes and filters. Further, use a utility to monitor cpu and gpu temps and fan speed.

As you may have guessed, I think that overheating could be the culprit. Whatever the problem, I wish you a quick and easy fix.

We replaced the processor fan only a few weeks ago, so I doubt it has had time to gather that much dust, but I can check for sure.

    Thanks.

I suspected it was the graphics driver update that I did that cause this... so hubby suggested I do a rollback of the drivers.
Turns out it was really easy to do, and now I haven't really been having this issue anymore.
